There is a "find message" feature on the bottom of the discussion boards with fields for author, subject etc... I have attempted to do searches and am unable to get any results. Could someone explain how this is done. Thanks

You have to give us an example. I have never known the search feature not to work. So without an example, we can not let you know what you are doing wrong.

By the way, the Search is only for the discussion board you are on at the time. If you want to find information from other boards, you have to go there and use the search engine on that board.

On this board, I went to search message feature, placed my name, placed the header from original post on this thread, searched last 30 days(just as example only). Clicked include text, clicked submit and nothing happens. I have tried numorous times with other names, sublects, dates etc... and still nothing comes up. Thanks Michael, I hope this example helps.

I tried searching and got the results right away. Not sure what to tell you. I tried some different variations(just name, name and header an so forth) and it always seemed to work fine. Sorry can't be of any help.

I've had the same issue myself (see my posts from ~3 weeks ago).  No matter what term I enter--even if I know for a fact that it's been discussed in this forum within my chosen date range--I still get a "No messages found" result.  Nothing works.

No idea what causes it, but the good news is it's only temporary.  After a day or so I try again and it works fine, so I recommend you just wait a bit and then search again.

Also, if you change the dates in the search form make sure you're entering them in the right boxes.  For example, if you want to search for messages in the last year then 365 to 0 works, but 0 to 365 does not.  Since I've had the same search problem as you even with the default settings I really doubt that's your problem, but I wanted to mention it just in case.

In the "Search For" box, I entered

search feature

In the "Author" box, I entered

Paxem

I left the "Date Range" boxes set at the default

From 30 days ago to 0 days ago.

This search gave me two hits whether or not I checked the "Include Text" box.

Have you tried searching either by key word or author independently to see if you get any hits?

In the past, people have had problems which resulted from reversing the numbers in the Date Range boxes. As you suggested, that does not appear to be Paxem's problem.

It's probably just a gremlin in the software. A few weeks ago, I couldn't get the links to work within any provider's profile except the link to the provider's website. I asked the other Mods...nobody else was having the same problem. I thought I needed to re-install my browser or something. Within a week, the links worked again.

To debug the problem, try the search with only one criteria
changed from it's default.  Try using your handle ONLY in the
author field.  Also, I would type (not cut/paste) into the
field.

When you get results, add in, one at a time, your other
criteria.  If nothing else, this will identify which criteria
is causing the problem.

The search could be thrown off by some stray word or
punctuation that was copied/pasted.

good luck,
frank

My problem has been similar, in that I can only access messages within the past year. That may be the way it is set up, I dunno. The messages I need to see are probably 2-3 years old, the place I want to read about is still there, same people, but no one comments on them now because, apparently, they're old news. Not old to me, I need that information. If there is a way to get to messages and reviews from longer than a year ago, I would like to know.

Change the number in the From box (in the Date Range line) to something higher than 366. When I want to search all messages on a board, I put 999 in the From box and 0 in the To box.

When you search for reviews, they come up newest to oldest. You don't have to specify a date. They should all come up. You have to look at the bottom of the page to see if there are additional pages.

Well, that works. It's what I did, I guess there just weren't older reviews as I expected.
The problem I have now is getting reviews that are more than a year old. I know of one reviewer, who if I search on his name as author, gives me one of the reviews I'm looking for, took place well over a year ago. If I do the search on the provider's name, I only get some from the past year, and it does not include the review by the same provider I found by searching by author. Is there a way to get older reviews? I'm hoping other authors reviewed the same spa, and it seems you can't search by spa name, only provider name. Any suggestions?
