The suggestions you have been given are excellent.

My words of advice are these, "If you are trying to set appointments ... use your cellphone." As a new hobbyist, you may find it very frustrating trying to make connections with providers via email.

I have found that trying to communicate with providers via email is very difficult and unreliable even in instances when you are trying to set an appointment days in advance.

When I first started hobbying, it frustrated me that few providers would respond to emails. They post them on their site and say contact me. Why don't they respond?

I have had providers give me their email addresses and yet they still didn't reply very timely if at all. However, so as not to dish all providers there are a few who do get back but usually it is the next day.

Consequently, words to the wise, "If you are trying to set appointments ... use your cellphone."

I am about to dip into the good life...lol  My question is, what do you say to a provider when you call or email?  I don't want to stumble over my words.. And this is my first time to do this, so will that hurt me as far as a reference goes?  I have no references.  Any help would be great.

I would call and see if you can get a same-day appointment.  Some providers, who normally ask for references, might make an exception if they're underbooked.  That way, when you're done you can ask them if they would be a reference for you in your future endeavors.

I have found that a brief, polite message works best.  Most of my first communications have been email, but you can also use this approach over the phone.

Hi, my name is ______
I saw your ad/website/etc which I found via ______.  I think you are attractive/interesting and I was hoping that we could set up a time to meet.  If she posts a schedule and you have a day/time in mind, tell her which one you want and the amount of time you are looking to book.  Perhaps offer an alternative in case choice one does not work.  Since you do not have references, tell her so and ask if she has any questions that you can answer in accordance with her screening process (and be prepared to do so).  Some ladies may not respond to an inquiry from someone who does not have references, their choice and just part of the process.  You may consider registering with Room Service 2000, Date Check or Preferred 411 as a first step to establish references.

Also include some basic information about yourself (age, height, interests, etc). Give her some feel for who/what you are.  This is a woman just like any other woman you have had an interest in.  Think of how you have made an approach to other women in your life and try to duplicate the feeling.

Let her know the best way to contact you (email, cell phone, etc). If phone, let her know the best time to call and if it is okay to leave a message.

DO NOT
Do not use sexual terms or graphic descriptions. Do not be rude.  Do not try to negotiate her rates, probably best to not even mention the rates. They should be posted in her ad so you know what is required.

Most important, be polite and be patient. Treat her the way you want to be treated.  Even with references, sometimes it takes a while for the lady to get back to you (and some never do!)

Good luck

Great info by Aries.  I have had success by also saying "I'd like to get together for an hour on Thursday at 1 p.m." rather than make this an open-ended question.  If she says she is booked, you can always counter with another day/time.  Have fun.
