Want to go to VIP membership but am concerned with paying by credit card and any trails that could lead back to my personal life since I would have to list my real name and info. Should I be concerned? Is it safer to pay by money order? If I do that - and am not using my real name and info -  how does TER ensure that VIPs aren't just LE infiltrators. Help with any info on this would be appreciated. What do most of you do?

I have never had a problem in using a credit card with TER .... I have one in my name only that goes to my own p.o. box where all my hobby info. goes. It's worked out fine for over 7 years now. I'm assuming that you have a private e mail address already.  hobby safe hobby well hobby all you can be ...

Go spend some time on the San Diego board. Doesn't give us newbies a lot of comfort.

Dude,

you need to distinguish between getting busted in your personal
life and getting busted by LE.

There's nothing illegal about particpating in a discussion on
this board.  And yes, LE might participate but so what - it's
just a discussion.  I've seen suspected LE get flamed on the
boards.

Now your personal life is another question.   You will have
a charge on your credit card so if you wife sees your statement
she may ask you what the charge is for.  The line item does not
identify it as TER if that's what you're asking.

There are ways around getting busted in your personal life and
using a money order seems a pretty fool-proof way.

good luck,
frank

how common is it for (legal) wives to go through their husbands credit card statements?  i'm sure it varies (culturally and geographically) but it's not anything like 50%, is it?

Good advice from all of you - not so worried about someone seeing the bill - more concerned with the info I am putting out there when I file. Guess I'll just relax and enjoy the ride.

After being on both sides of the marriage line, i wouldn't be surprised if it was much more then 50 percent.

singleton...she pays all the bills...if something comes up she doesn't recognize, she justs asks me if it is ok to pay it.  In answer to your question, got to be much more than 50%.
