References don't last forever

many providers have time limits on how long they will be your reference since they last saw you. Some 3 months, some 6 months etc. Just depends on the provider. You could also ask them to ok you if you belong to p411 or white list you on TER.

Is reference check such a common practice that you don't need to bother sending out "Can I use you as a reference?" email?

or.. should you send a courtesy message to the provider and tell them another provider might be contacting them for a reference?

or.. would it be easier to just ask the provider in person if I can use them as a reference in the future after the session?

I'm not sure which way would be the easiest and polite way to go about it.

It is expected that you will contact them and let them know the name of the provider who will be contacting them.  This is very much a common and expected courtesy,

PM or email would be more than appropriate, unless you are looking for a nice reason to call and say "hey".  I have always handled this electronically

I believe this is good advice foreroticreview. I've always given a heads-up to any lady I'm using as a reference. I've also always asked if this is all right in advance of giving out their info. In addition, if my reference is timely in her reply to someone I wish to see then I send some P411 gift points as a way of saying thank you to her. Now that I have numerous "okays" I have found that many ladies seem willing to accept that and they don't contact my okays. They may well be using other methods to screen I'm not aware of though. P411 has been great for me!

First do your 2nd "or", that is ask while in her presence if you can use her as a reference. Second do your 1st "or", that is send the courtesy message letting them know a provider will be contacting them.

I don't verify based on email or phone records, so I either have to remember you or I can't provide a reference. My cut off is also 6 months, unless I've seen a guy several times. I have a HUGE problem with guys who saw me 3 years ago for a damn hour, and need a reference that much later as if I remember. Some of them I do, because they really stood out, but that's very rare. I also tell the provider asking how old the ref is, and that she should decide if she wants to take the chance.

Just because a guy was good last week, does not mean he was not busted, compromised, etc. This is why there is a time limit on references. Things change, and so do people. I once saw a guy who had over 50 reviews who went bad, and started ripping providers off by 20-50 bucks each time. It was obviously not a mistake, because it happened to like 6 of us. Same thing happened with a guy from Date Check...he had several references but he NCNS on 2 providers after that.
