this may sound paranoid, but are stories of being robbed while meeting a provider true. My fear is that it will be aset up when I get to the location and some huge bodygaurd type guy will answer the door and rob me blind!  I this a valid concern?

That you are interested in seeing.  Generally hobbyists are blunt about providers who do the type of stuff that you are concerned about.  If some guy has been there before, you should stay away.  I suggest not seeing anyone who has a performance average score of less than 8, this should keep you far away from the type of provider that you mentioned.
    Do not see anyone who has not been reviewed at least 3-4 times and stay away from providers who work the street.

Generally speaking, the dangers that one will encounter in the hobby have more to do with Rip-Off Bitches (ROB's), that engage in a con artist mode of operation; collect the fee for the hour and provide little to no service. The "cash-n-dash" escorts collect the fee and will somehow make an excuse to leave without any service at all. Then there is the upsell, which is more common with agency girls advertised at a hourly rate much lower than average for their market. Once the agreed upon fee is collected, she will inform you that she will not offer what you want unless you "tip" her extra for each and every activity requested, probably never getting what you desire anyway. We also hear about cash or other valuables being stolen by these less than reputable "ladies" (term used loosely). Always keep an eye on your wallet, or anything else you can't afford to lose.

You most likely will not have any physical threat against you like the scenario you described. However, anything is possible in the world we live in, so you are most correct to be thinking this could happen to any of us at any time. Usually you will only lose your $$$ and a little pride, plus be left with an unfulfilled fantasy. Most here advise to stick with known, well reviewed ladies, at least until you are more familiar with the rules of the game.  

On a sidenote, keep in mind that the honest reputable lady you are meeting for the first time may have the same concerns of physical harm and/or not being paid the proper fee for her services.

If a lady has 1 or more pages of favorable reviews you can leave those fears behind. Scenereos such as the one you describe are found amongst StreetWalkers (SWs) and ladies who wouldn't ever make it to the TER community.
