Hi all. Looking to start the hobby and it looks like one who does not have any references needs to get "verified". How does one do this if they are unemployed. I have means, just not a bi-monthly paycheck. As I am just starting, I have no references. Catch 22?

I would suggest two tacks:

One, is to write a brief but well composed email to a few providers whom you would like to see and explain your situation.  Often people are taken by eloquence despite what they might say otherwise.

The other is to find a massage parlor and become friendly with the receptionist.  Once she knows you well, you could ask her to be a reference for you to see escorts.  This is, in fact, how I got my first reference about seven years ago.

One option is to use an agency to start out with.  Honestly they don't care if you have a job or not as long as you can show proof of ID when you show up for the appointment.  

This doesn't get you off the hook totally as many indies will not accept a reference from an agency since they usually do not screen as well.

Retired guys like me get appointments.  Alternate screening might take a bit longer.    They're not loaning you money, just want to be assured of your safety.

Verification comes along about 2 or 3 times a week.

same thing happened to me when i started hobby. did not have a job 'cause i had sold my business and retired early (mid 40's).  was finally able to meet with well reviewed provider for dinner date. convinced her that i wasn't a risk over dinner and ended up back at her hotel for a great first time.  have repeated many times with her,  plus she did not mind providing references for me ( she even referred me to providers she thought i might like)
