I'm currently exchanging emails with two different providers in a major city.  I found both of them on Cityvibe.  Neither has been reviewed on TER, but one has a pretty elaborate, professional web site (the other just has a straightforward Cityvibe ad).  

I've got appointments set with both of them, but neither of them has asked me for any info to screen me.  What's up with that?  Judging from the amount of discussion about screening on these boards, you'd think any sane provider would at least ask some questions before setting up an appointment.

I understand that not EVERY provider can be TER-reviewed, but is this a sign that they aren't legitimate?

A sane provider would screen! Did you ask if either provider has reviews on other boards?Did you offer the ladies references? If so, what was their response? As you know business is slow for many providers,so maybe the economic environments is causing the ladies not to screen. I just had an escort put me thru the ringer about references.
Have you tried doing a 411 post on the local board about the ladies. It's a tough call, as to them being legit, go with your gut. Sorry I couldn't offer you a better answer.Good luck

Without TER reviews you're flying blind.  It might be they're legit, but there's no way to know.  I find a web site usually indicates a step above base line...  
While more seasoned reviewers occasionally TOFTT, (Take One For The Team)...  meaning take the risk...  it's generally not recommended for Newbies.  
Screening is for the lady's protection...  reviews + spidy sense is to protect guys.  Lack of screening is a caution.  Other safegards, like 2 call system, location, reverse search your phone number...  add to a lady's protection.  If things don't seem right, it's better to pass.  
I'm not saying to never see them...  just get your perspective first.

A good provider can screen you without you knowingly giving her much info.  Since you contacted her, she has something...phone #, email address, etc.  That may give her everything she feels that she needs to get an idea of who you are.

Now, since you asked...why would someone NOT screen.  There are ladies out there that don't, or don't well.  Some just don't know how, or that they should.  Hopefully, the worst that happens to them is that they need to hire a lawyer to deal with the arrest.  Others are convinced that they can tell about a guy by the vibe they get.  Hopefully, the worst that happens to them is that they need to hire a lawyer to deal with the arrest.  Safety is a funny game.  It takes time, energy and money to stay safe, and it pays you nothing.  That is, until it saves you a lot.

Its called needing to pay the rent. In my hometown, if I tried to screen as heavily as many women do, I would starve to death.

Don't ever assume that just because a woman hasn't asked you for everything short of your social security number that it means she doesn't know what she's doing or isn't legit.

Men provide me with a wealth of information, the information I feel I need, without my having to ask for a short novel on them. In threee years of providing, I've never had a problem, and have only once been "shorted". Not a bad track record. Prying into your life isn't the only way to know whether I should see you or not.

Of course, with respect to the original poster, I would recommend caution based on the fact that the ladies do not have any reviews. Lack of reviews doesn't mean they aren't legitimate. After all, every provider had to start somewhere. However, without any reviews, there is no way of knowing what he might be walking into.

Another note, is some guys may be new to this escort deal and have no references yet!
