Thanks, I will not give up my hope finding a trustworthy provider with whom I can have the cake and eat it too.

This is a typical move by the provider to make sure you are not a cop. False information will end up with a night in the jail and other chargers made to the provider or other people involved.

Can anyone of you advise me as a government employee who knows his office phone is being taped and yet all the provider needs my primary work number in order to verify my employment information. How can I enjoy the service and yet without risking my career?

Thanks, Andy

Although other providers are not the 'one you are looking for,' they provide the same services. If you are not willing to risk you career, or other situation, please explore the many others without 'I want to know.'

As for myself, you could be the governor and I don't care.

Thanks, I kinda of know it's going to be a number game. I am no public figure like the former NY governor. I am confident that I will find a suitable provider eventually.

and "confirming a dental/dr. appointment" or some such rouse.  The provider wants to make sure you are who you say you are.

Got you! I will work with the "system" and know eventually it will happen for me.

Thank you

I am in a similar situation.  So I used p411, who tactfully placed the call to my office using a script i provided.   Once verified by the service the call to work does not need happen again.  The provider simply checks with the service who has done the screening.

There are some hobbyists that state that all calls to their facility are computer cross checked and investigated.  If you job is so hyper-sensitive and you are critical to national security and hold high level clearances,  my opinion is that you should not be in the hobby.   A phone call to work is the least of your concerns.  You could be compromised by foreign interests and blackmailed.

you could look for a provider who's screening requirements are less stringent, but I prefer the providers with careful screening practices as it protects both of us.

P411 will also work with you and offer alternatives to calling your office.
PS:  Nice alias, Silvio.  Bunga, bunga!

I just picked this alias up a few days ago,  I could not believe it was available.

Great stuff and suggestion, btw, my job doesn't require TS or S clearance nor has anything to do with national security. Thanks

A Government job with your calls being recorded is a recipe for disaster.
There are too many flaky providers out there and the wrong decision will be costly. Don't take the risk.

I would suggest a screening service, P411 or date check. If you have to be verified, use a service. There is very little risk involved with them. In time you will also have provider references.

BTW, the Gov't does not delete anything when it comes to employees.

Just to let you know that I take your advice to heart and I will weight my options. P411 and Datecheck are something I will explore next.

Thanks

I work for a school district. I worry so much even if I join a service. A paranoia newbie???

Honestly explain that you can not give out that number.  You don't have to & shoould not reveal why (most providers are very discreet but why risk anyone having that power over you?)  Offer to complete alterntive screening.   If she doesn't then move on.   I'm retired & I used alternative screening...  never looked back.

Could we have a little more detail on "alternative screening"? I have been self employed for thirty years.  Thanks

Thanks again for your input. I want to say that I'd found a service provider and we met yesterday and was a great experience for me. Your feedbacks helped me to be prudent in how much they should know about me and enjoy the fun at the same time. I am really a happy camper.
