Reading the reviews and all, makes me very interested.  But I've never done anything like this and don't know how to go about initiating.  Any advice for a newbie?

So, start by reading the Newbie/Self Help Manual that is linked on this Board.  (Look for the red and white life preserver.)

It has lots on information on the hobby in general, and how to use TER in particular.

Also monitor the threads on this board and you'll learn a lot.
