I searched the Self-Help guide and saw some things referencing Hobby phones, but didn't find anything that addressed this in particular.
Right now mine is in my office hidden in a locked cabinet, but that means I won't have access nights or on weekends, and bringing home and hiding there is way too risky..
I'm planning on keeping a "Hobby kit" in the office containing mouthwash, toothpaste and toothbrush, etc. to prepare for sessions and will include the phone there, but I wanted to see if anyone had any other insight in storing (i.e. hiding) the phone.
at the bottom of a desk drawer holding a bunch of old cell phones and chargers. My wife would never look there and, if she did, wouldn't recognize it as a current phone. Of course, it is never turned on.
Do you share a car w/So, or have separate vehicles? If separate, you can always put it in the space where spare tire/jack, etc are... same for if keep toolbox in trunk.
We have separate vehicles, so that is an idea.. In fact, I have my mouthwash, etc. supplies hidden in the spare tire compartment now for when I get to the office.. Now I'm going to search around the vehicle to see if I can find any other decent hiding places...
I like it, very good. Hiding in plain view. Don't we all have a bunch of extra phones... in case one croaks & I'm not due for a free one! Mine is in my workshop... alien territory for her.

Basically, anything with pockets where you normally would store/keep a bunch of random assorted stuff in. To me, something like a laptop bag that would have assorted chargers, cables, adapters, etc. would be great for this (and alien to women).
I don't normally normally travel but have done so a few times this year. I've found that, out of sheer laziness, I've just given up on emptying out the luggage all the time and keep odds and ends there. If it applies, you can hide things amidst your set of travel-sized grooming products. If you have luggage locks, you can even keep that compartment 'locked' by 'accident' (to prevent accidental discovery) and a luggage lock key can easily be stored in your wallet.
(my disclaimer is: I don't have an SO. Most of the time my hobby phone sits in a drawer or in plain sight because this is not a concern to me. Therefore, my opinions are all theoretical observations and have not been 'field tested'.)
I use Google Voice as my hobby phone. No physical phone to hide - just an accounts I can use from anywhere. Of course I can't receive calls which is a bit of a downer.
Are you just using the 'call' function from gmail or are you actually subscribed to Google voice? If you managed to get a Google Voice invite on your hobby email, you can choose a phone number, and receive phone calls/have voicemail/place calls like you would with Skype. But, totally anonymously.
Or do you just mean you don't have your google voice account ringing to anywhere, and thus can't receive calls unless you're signed on? (which I would say is smart to do... otherwise what's the point of a hobby phone if it just forwards to your regular one?)
If anything I said above doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll rephrase.
I am subscribed to GV but havent linked it to a physical phone (dont want unexpected calls coming in)

If you have an iPhone, magicJack just introduced a free phone app yesterday that includes free calls in the US. Could do the trick as a GV alternative.
If you go into the "settings" area, you can tell GV to forward calls to your cell phone when you want to receive them. And then just check a box to stop forwarding those calls when you don't want to receive them. In that case, they go straight to Google voice mail. Then you can leave your cell phone out in the open, confident that you will not get any "sensitive" calls or text messages when your SO is around.
I'm pretty sure Google Voice was invented by a cheating husband!
