If the provider providing the reference is a veteran and well reviewed it's probably legit.  Still, I would not opt for the unreviewed provider.   That would be too sketchy for me.

Hey guys, new to the scene and looking to do things as financially efficient as possible. Im needing an experienced opinion on a situation I am in. had a date set up with well reviewed provider, but she cancelled due to unforeseeable circumstances (gave me 6 hours notice so not last minute). Offered a possible replacement, a gf of hers with no reviews.
What do you make of it? I see both sides and am not experienced enough with this stuff to make a decision what it is. thanks

The other girl may not be your type or up to the same standards as the well reviewed gal.

Stick to ONLY well reviewed ladies. Especially as a newbie,

may be trying to take advantage of you.  Of course, she may just be trying to help her friend out too.  What the hell do I know?

Well, at least take a look at the ad/website and photos of the replacement, judge for yourself if it's someone you'd consider, based on that.  Right style of appearance?  Price is fair for you?  If all that matches, then consider it.

It's like a blind date.  If you are expecting Joan Jett and get Cindi Lauper, you might not be happy.  (I would, tho!!)

Being a provider myself, I have a protege that wants to get into the business, she has no reviews or a site yet, but is very compassionate and has been on dates with me......

I think this was a thoughtful act, being that the provider is well reviewed, and DIDN'T cancel on you at the last minute....Just my opinion :) Now, it would be on you to accept the other provider, she may not be what your looking for....therefore giving you reason to cancel.

I think bait and switch applies more to the situation where the lady who shows up is not who you expected to show up, not where a lady has to cancel and offers a replacement who is trying to get into the business.

It is risky in that the new girl is unknown as far as style, menu, etc goes. It's likely to be safe if you care to partake though.

This crew seems down on new providers. Seriously and completely. I think it's time for me to move on from here - good luck though. If you choose to see the new lady, write her a review so she can be a part of this comunity if she so chooses. :)

... and if the provider is well-reviewed; she knows that pulling a fast one could come back to haunt her.

Just my .02, but I suspect the lady was just being considerate to start with; and then using the opportunity provided by that to give a friend of hers a leg up.

Birds of a feather tend to flock together. A really good provider, I would hope, wouldn't set you up with Medusa.

STILL -- it's always safest to see only who you have explicitly decided to see and nobody else.

When I was a newbie (and many might say I still am) a cancel would rattle my cage.

You can take on the "relief pitcher" but you still have to step up to the plate and see if you have the confidence to take a good swing, and get some wood on the ball.

Sounds to me like you've been studying one pitcher, and the sudden change in roster may be best left to veteran types.  With a little practice, you'll be there one day.

One last piece of advice.  Always wear a helmet when it's your turn at the plate.

She probably has her own rep to protect and therefore the other girl probably would not be a bait and switch. However, she has no reviews so you may not know whether you and her are compatible or not as you don't know anything about her. But who knows, go ahead and take a chance.

Although I don't consider myself a veteran provider as i've been in the biz for six months, I introduced a girlfriend into the buisness recently and she has been a big hit with the few clients i've introduced her to. No reviews, no nothing. Just a few pics I had to send them and their unfailing trust in me and it turned out well for both parties!

on your local board.

Some ladies reputation is good enough, it depends on how well known she is.

Several NYC ladies have other girls linked as friends, I would be OK with many of them.

A couple of ladies I have known have offered their "new friends" to me as an option or a "training" double. In those cases the ladies knew me pretty well before they made the offer. In this case, a lady who knows absolutely nothing about you is offering her friend. All I can say is, "Some friend."

Well, I had something very similar happen to me about 4 years ago.  I had made an appointment while in NY, and had the provider come to my hotel.  She was clearly not the girl in the pictures, and told me that the other girl was turning over some clients to her, but they weren't explaining that as it was "too confusing".  The replacement girl was hot, so I went ahead with the date.

It was probably the best date I have had with a provider.  It is my first review too.

So, definetly proceed at your own risk and with caution, but you might be pleasently surprised.

Thanks everyone for the advice. The interesting thing about it is that I was interested in the girl before she was suggested as a replacement by the original provider. Now that she was suggested I feel a bit better about it and may consider her.

now provider is again trying to suggest another replacement for date that was rescheduled for today, this time last minute. me thinks the latter is the correct answer to my question now.
