If an alias is attacking or criticizing the post or the idea behind the post, then it is not a flame IMHO. If, however, the alias is personally attacking the poster, then it crosses the line. It is up to each mod to determine if the line has been crossed. Typically, a complaint by the person who feels that she or he has been personally attacked will result in a deeper analysis, and I will usually be more apt to pull the post.
BTW, the flaming doesn't have to come from an alias to be non-compliant.
As far as flipping the alias, that is a tactic of very last resort, and usually requires Admin's approval.
between two or three posters that amount to nothing but chat on the boards. Particularly Kitten Fights and Pee-Pee Contests. Tracks like that will get pulled.
And if they escalate to become Cat Fights and Pissing Contests, the posters will be moderated.
TER has Chat Rooms and PM if anyone wants to go back and forth on something nobody else cares about, and the P&R Board if they want to do it for the entertainment of others.
When someone personally attack my post from behind an Alias you only response is on the board, otherwise I'll take it tp a PM. I am not one to back down but I am trying DC
internet boards, and particularly on TER boards. If you feed the monkeys, they won't stop throwing shit at you through the cage bars.
If the alias post is just disagreeing with you however, I have no problem with responses so long as they don't degenerate into a long track of "I said," "No, You said" type of thing. Picture a thread that looks like a sideways "W" Those are the ones that typically contain tracks that only matter to the posters on the track.
Particularly on the Newbie Board, I am doing my best to discourage hijacks that become chats, and specifically negative chats.
BTW, there wasn't an alias in the tracks that prompted my post, but I can definitely see where you are coming from.
just to insult and/or berate someone for no reason.
This is posted at the top of each Board: This is a moderated forum in which flames and messages outside the forum topic will be deleted. Please do not post messages that are simply mean, or meant to cause trouble for trouble’s sake.
I don't know about anyone else, but maybe we should just start flipping aliases when people obviously abuse the use of them.
DC, I am very interested in knowing what you think. What is the general opinion regarding flipping aliases? Just curious.

It seems like there are a lot of Newbies who have started posting on the Newbie board. And I don't mean new hobbyists. I mean providers and hobbyists who just discovered this playground.
Be aware, the Newbie board is intended to have a different style and feel from the other boards. It attempts to be helpful and supportive of new hobbyists. ALthough it can get boring answering the same question for the thousandth time, that's what the board is for.
It's not a place to attack other hobbyists or work out the alias posting issue (which DC didn't even mention!)
If you don't like that function, go to another board. This is not the GD board.
I hope none of my cousins or other family members are involved here. I try to keep an eye on them but however there are so many it can be difficult at times. I think at times cousin HiFollowmeJack will take a thread in a different direction butt I am pretty sure he does not flame it wood usually involve fucking, sucking licking and the like ...and speaking of that HEY BETTY WHAT'S UP HOT STUFF.
