according to their website the "ATF is a unique law enforcement agency in the United States Department of Justice that protects our communities from violent criminals, criminal organizations, the illegal use and trafficking of firearms, the illegal use and storage of explosives, acts of arson and bombings, acts of terrorism, and the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products."

They may be part of a multi agency beinginvestigation into prostitution if organized crime is suspected to involved. Especially if their target is a multi-state operation suspected of involvement with drugs, weapons, but most importantly, violent crimes.

Some say that this LE group is the toughest, most trigger-happy band of jack-booted government thugs you could run into. But I suppose that depends on which side of the law you are on.
