The (New???) Rating system??

Is it true that you can no longer get 10's if you don't do butt-stuff or something? Can you still get 10's just for giving amazing service and all that?

...You have to actually do the extra service during the session in order to get the point.

Every girl starts off with a maximum possible 7, as I understand it. Then you can add a point for everything act she performs from the following list: DFK, BBBJ, Anal, doubles with a girl, and doubles with a guy. Since DFK and BBBJ are considered normal and doubles sessions of any kind are unusual (or special, if you want to phrase it that way), the difference between a 9 and 10 (assuming she deserves the best possible score) often comes down to whether she lets you stick it you-know-where.  

I don't know if this was the intention, but they might have set the rule up so that ladies and gentlemen alike would have concrete incentive not to cheat. Because if you don't want to do DFK, BBBJ, and especially anal, you won't encourage your reviewer to lie, or if you're the reviewer you'll worry more about lying. Because you won't want johns knocking down your door, asking for the service you don't provide.  

Which is clever, but maybe too clever. Rightly or wrongly, it turns TER in many people's minds into the anal site. Like TER thinks a session can't be the best it can be without anal. Or that it's encouraging girls to do anal, or something. Suddenly everyone's talking as if they'd be giving or getting 10s if not for anal. That's misleading (who says you deserve a 10, anyway? Unless you got all 10s beforehand, in which case they likely weren't deserved anyway), but it's a natural result of a too-clever system.

Some corrections...

... since this is for newbies, so we want to strive for accuracy.  

The services eligible for extra points are:  Kisses With Tongue, Bare-Back Blow Job, Really Bi, Anal Sex, or More than One Guy.  That's different from what you said. Note it's not DFK, but Kisses with tongue--so LFK qualifies also.  And it's not "doubles" but Really Bi and More than one guy--there's multiple ways to qualify for those besides doubles (example: a female could see a provider as a client and give the extra point for Really Bi).

But I agree with your assertion that the new rules turn TER into "the anal site."  :(

Still feel

that it should show on each individual review how you scored...

earned a 7 out of allowable 7 vs got a 7 out of a 10.

Plenty of guys won't pay attention to the fact that old reviews were under a different system. So now they are going to wonder why so and so isn't getting 10s anymore. I am sure it will knock off a lot of top 100 gals unless they do Greek (or lie about it).

X-out-of-Y is more fair and more informative

I've been pushing for X-out-of-Y (7/7 versus 7/10) on General and S&P for a long time.  

I have had some FANTASTIC 7-out-of-7's! (Maybe even 8-out-of-7s!)  

I really hope they can change the new system before it becomes too entrenched.

As regards LFK, you're right. Any tongue counts.

That's a correction, technically. But a kinda petty one, considering TER violates its own rules by doing so. The scores are supposed to be based on what happens in the session, and female clients can't know they're really bi in the session without it being a double. Common sense trumps strict interpretation of the rules, because you can read the reviews and notice they see male clients all the time. Plus, you'd think the females who see providers solo would be lesbians or at least bi, and could tell on their own whether the girls are faking. But the rules are what they are.

I suppose common sense might also have told you I was thinking in terms of male clients, which represent over 99% of them.

They could simply update the existing without changing the underlying idea of services performed rather than merely "offered" to get to the x/y system in place. And I agree, it would be an improvement.

If you read my post carefully, you'd see a couple of sentences later I said you should be able tell on your own. The part you quoted was about the strictures of the TER ratings system. I shouldn't have said you can't know when what I meant is you can't give her the extra points. Sort of like how a juror is ordered by a judge to disregard evidently that's been ruled inadmissible.

I'll explain better below.

Read the rules. I quote from #8: "an escort provider is only eligible to earn up to a 7, unless she performs one or some of the following during a session..."  

See that? She has to perform it during a session. Unless you see her with a man during the session, according to the rules as written you shouldn't be able to count it as Really Bi. Same as with male clients, who have to see her with another woman. You can actually know for a fact she goes both ways, but it's not supposed to count unless it is acted out during the session.  

Knowledge is one thing, performance another. That's what I meant when I mistakenly said you can't know. You can't officially "know" so as to award her points in your capacity as a TER reviewer, unless you see it with your own eyes in the session.  

Of course, female clients are a unique circumstance, and I assume TER suspends the rules in their case.

Like in the real world as things change so do the rules..

I don't think it is a far stretch to assume that a female monger can call a provider "really bi" and get her another bonus point. The rules here need to be updated to reflect this along with other changes that have occurred since the rules were first  written so long ago. All of my reviews reflect the providers bi status.  

When I first joined TER I was told that women could not write reviews. That is obviously no longer the case. Times change and we all have to keep up.

So guys can't even rate on Chemistry. I honestly am beginning to wonder if TER will EVER have a Chemistry rating even though they said they would.

...the chemistry and location rating is a star rating. The reviewer can rate them from one to five stars. That won't do anything for the numbers.

When we tell newbies, or anyone, how the rules work...

... I think it's important to be accurate, and not exclude members of the community (such as female hobbyists, whom you ignored in your earlier response).

Your post about how the rules work (see below) was simply inaccurate, both wrt to kissing (which you acknowledged) and about "doubles".  It's NOT about doubles--read the rules again.  It's about Really Bi and More than One Guy.  Really Bi can be demonstrated, for example, when a session involves a male/female couple with a provider. That's not "doubles", but a provider seeing a couple.  Whether or not that kind of session qualifies for Really Bi depends on what happens in the session between the two ladies.

I think we've just hit silly town. The ONLY person who can truly know if they are "Really Bi" is the person being reviewed. Doesn't matter if the reviewer is a guy or a gal -- or a couple. So the performance rating is about a provider who is willing to see clients of either sex, and it should not require that one of each (or even more than one of each) be present to earn the score. What it does require, as outside the TS side here, all the providers as female so unless a guy is in some three-way with two girls he's not going to be able to use that metric. Lopaw, on the other hand can pretty much use it for all her encounters.

That just seems common sense and quite fair.

I read number 8 and I don' t think a provider should be penalized for having health concerns being forced to do OWO to gain one point. I also think that some providers will have safety concerns dealing with two men (FMM) in the same session.  Just my opinion. Of course, anal sex will be performed with a condom.
