If you want to use a lady as a reference then ask her first. #1. it could be your SO contacting her. #2 it's just polite to ask her before.

Most providers, if asked for an unsolicited reference,

will not give one unless she is able to verify that the provider is "legit."  She will require a website to verify.  If she has any suspicions, she will contact the client directly via e-mal before giving a reference.
