If they have a TER profile, however, their rates will appear on that.

You might say to her something like:  "As far as rates go, can I rely on what your TER profile has to say?"

If she gets jumpy about that, then just forget her and move on.

Not really a newbie, but this has always baffled me.  On various sites I'll see a provider's ad without any mention of their rates.  At the end it will say something like "no explicit talk or questions about rates or I'll hang up!".  So exactly how am I suppose to inquire about their rates?  Do some people actually make an appointment and wait till they get in the room before discussing them?  If so then if you disagree with the rate do you just walk out?  Just wondering if there's something I'm missing here.

Also is there a benefit to the provider for not posting their rates?  Just wondering because I see it's about 1/2 and 1/2.  I've personally never called to inquire about someone's rates.  Luckily there are enough of those out there that do post them so I don't have to bother.  Thanks for reading!

Thanks!  I don't know how I missed that when I searched.

That way the IRS couldn't get her on her taxes by coming up with a number of how many people she's seen in a given period. She wasn't a scam, she just chose to do business that way. She only gave her rates via email and always had the same rates. Ladies in France do that too for the same reason.
