Hello TER im new to the hobby. I have a question all of the providers I wish to see require that I have references. How did you all go about gaining references?

Go to date-check.com and sign up and pay for VIP status.

In the meantime find a provider that services newbies.

Datecheck, preferred 411 are a couple of trusted sites. They will screen you and then assign an ID # . Not a bad option. If you are uncomfortable with their screening just try newbie friendly providers. Once you see someone reputable write a review to become established on TER as well. The prescreening sites are best route if you are ok with it. Once you have an ID on the site you won't have to be put through as much screening ...usually....with providers. The site serves as your references.

I am new to the hobby, a friend has newbie ref that helped him get established. i was thinking about date check or 411... I notice they contact work place. What kinda of questions do they ask. my work would have to be my direct supervisor. wouldnt want anything fishy sounding.

Look for providers that are newbie friendly. They will screen you without using references.

They will call the main number and ask for you then when they get forwarded to your phone they will verify that it is you. That's all they do-they will not talk to anyone else at your workplace.

They are pretty discreet when they contact your work.  One left a message saying that they were my bank and had to clear a transaction that they thought might be fraud, and left a number.  You can be sure everyone at work made sure I got the message!  They sent me an email asking me what the phone number was.
