Hello, I am in need of some dental work and i am asking if i can post a question...Asking if there is a dentist who will trade services with me.

Officially, bartering on TER is against the rules, and most mods will remove you post and keep you moderated.

Occasionally, a gal on a regional board will get away with letting it be known that she has a certain need (computer crash, roof leaking, car trouble, etc.).  No specific offer of trade, just a way to contact her if you can help, so you can make a deal offline.  Gals can get away with this, guys can't.  You simply can't post something like "Hi, I am a great plumber, any women here needing their pipes cleaned?!?"

Remember, barter requires much more time, effort, direct communication and trust than cash transactions for both to leave satisfied.

Why don't you put it on your website that you're looking for a good dentist?

Are you near a University with a dental school?
You might be able to get dental work done at a reduce fee or possibly no fee.

Bartering for services is a legal, or ethical issue that most, if not all, licensed professionals must deal with. For some, it is frowned upon, while for others it is strictly prohibited. Don't think you'll have much luck in finding any takers. At least no one who still has their license.

With what you have the potential to earn in this biz, dental bills should not be an issue for you.

Nice Group Of Friends...I am new and before i posted this i did send a question to the powers that be to ask if it is ok. I asked for something i need and if it was wrong just say so but wise cracks from a place where we are here to help each other is low class. You do not know my situation ...think i have had enough of the kindness of women...you suck.

Oops, I just checked the LA board and it appears you can barter on TER, or at least on the LA board you can.

I would think that someone who charges $500 hr would be able to afford to pay a dentist.

Shame on you DC!  

I envy the lucky dentist in her area who gets to drill her cavities!  LOL!!

Your first post is well over a year old. I wouldn't say that makes you a new member.

Your request for permission was tantamount to just posting the  offer. The very question when posted with a TER link to your location creates the offer. Did you really think that nobody would notice?

Sorry you didn't like the answers you got, but you didn't seem to do much better on your local board, the silence was deafening.

first of all it sounds as if there is more than just dental issues. Any doc, worth their salt, wouldnt put their livelihoods on the line. While the TER neighborhood my not think so, this is kind of barter would be construed as lewd and immoral conduct[go to any states revised code and look it up]. plus,,the best method is always,,you pay my bill and I will pay yours...if you are charging what your worth,,9 out of 10 times you make out. Lastly, the tenor of this thread somewhat illustrates that this poster may be in some difficult circumstances and professionals are easy targets to those with less than scrupulous intentions...just my 2 cents

You make 500hr and you are implying that you can't afford a dentist.

Even if the dental work runs in the thousands then you can always set up a payment plan.

Most dentists won't risk losing their license for bartering for sexual services.

By the way the cost of living is also high in Boston too and is going up everywhere.

Many dentists, in addition to other health care professionals, accept credit cards. Or at least they do in my neck of the woods.

I only say this because when I first staarted I began payments to Our dentist of well over 8 thousand. Then my oldest got braces,another 5 thousand, and her wisdom teeth out 16hundred. Then off to college which I also make payments on.
Now my 2 teen boys,15 and 17, are both in braces which I also make payments on. another 10thousand, and one kid was born without a few needed teeth so he will need 2 implants which I will start making payments on next yr, another 7 to 10 grand.
Plus hes a senior, in high school and my daughter is a senior in colllege so they will both graduate and I will start paying for college for him next yr as well.
I was not in any way shitting on you...I just know if I can make all these payments hon... anybody in this biz can!!! Now I have a morgage car payment and everything else to pay as well...cost of living in Boston is not cheap. If you thought I meant it badly...you have an additude problem. I have payments for this that and the other all over the place.  Its called taking care of my business.
As I said before...I do wish you luck. It can be done I know I am living it.
