Hi everyone, thanks for a terrific site. I am trying to get up the courage to make my first appointment, and recently had two women that I think may be providers ask to be my friend on facebook. I don't mean to assume, but it seems like they are. Has this happened to anyone? I would love to accept their requests, but my nosy friends will undoubtedly wonder who these amazing looking scantily clad women are...
This sounds harsh, but if they are providers, does anyone know how to cloister a new friend on facebook so they aren't seen by other friends? I know this sounds cold, but sure you all understand.
Thanks in advance and wish me luck!

What happended is while you may have a "personal" email, you also use that email address for your facebook log in address.  So you probably (well, certainly did) email some girls (or an agency) and they auto added your email to their contact list and in turn you get auto solicited by facebook as the facebook application goes through their contact list.  Probably (and I hope) you do not associate your real name with the email address, so your name is probably safe.

Bt learn a lesson now, personal does not equate with hobby.  Separate them out.  Also, if you let a girl/agency become your facebook friend, thne they may start soliciting your friends!

I had a provider as a friend on FB.  Then she posted her itinerary on her wall, and anyone who was my friend could see it.  I told her she needed to remove it or I would have to dump her as a FB friend.  My FB pals do not know I hobby, like relatives....etc.....you get the pic?

Anyway, I gave her 24 hrs, she did not remove it, so I deleted her as a friend.

Bottom line is, be careful with providers as FB friends.  My rec is only add them as friend if you know them in civvie life.  Why take chances?

Could also just be spam? (since you 'think' they are providers?) I've had random ladies try to friend me on MySpace even though that profile is locked tighter than all **** so I know it's spam.

Also, I agree with the others and hope that you are smart enough to use a hobby email address!

For the record, FB has things like 'lists' so if you REALLY want to separate people out, and have groups that can't see info that others can see you can. However, why would you ever want to do this with providers? If you really have a provider in your civvie life, sure, but then I hope she has a civvie appropriate profile. If not, why risk the exposure unless you're ready to 'come out' to the world and face a whole host of trouble?

A couple of providers are FB friends, but they are friends in real life. Same for several ex-dancers. All of them have all of their friends and family on their FB accounts, so I sincerely doubt that anything inappropriate is ever going to pop up. I would never friend someone I do not know well, and I always browse through their friends ASAP to make sure that they are legit. I can't imagine friending a provider who is using her account for business.

I block them at once.  I use a separate e-mail for hobby as well as phone.  I think this is spam generated...
The only reason I have a FB at all is to look at grandkids pictures.  Do I want my family to ask who this is?  Do I want friends to get friend requests from unknown women...  linked to ME?
NOPE!  I didn't think so!

They are undoubtedly spam generated. As a general rule, its advisable to only accept friends requests from people you know and who you feel comfortable having access to your personal info. The same rule applies to Twitter. Remember that your friends will have access to your friend lists.

What was stated above... Most likely spam.. I get them from time to time on my FB account. I friend them for 10 minutes to find out they have web links to adult date sites and crap... Then I unfriend them...
