As a newbie I contacted an agency with my regular cell number and gave them my real info etc.  After being on TER for a few months (as well as after seeing the AZ and other agency busts) it seems that most people feel that independents are a safer bet.

My few questions. Do most agency keep names etc. and if so for how long? Since the one agency already has my information can I still use them and just not give my information to any other agencies or is it better to move on to independents.

Now have my hobby phone and signed up for RM2K and just trying to find the safest way to play.

Some agencies keep info but frankly, so do some indies.  I have used both and felt safe with both.

remember, your safety is the most important thing. Screen people and never, never see anybody without checking work and  personal info. Remember this bizz is very lucrative but very risky as well.
