I searched for a previous posting on how to avoid scams from providers and agencies, but did not find any, so I thought I'd start a thread.

I'm a relative newbie hobbyist.  I've tried a few providers, some great, some total scams.  I hope I'm learning fast.  Here's what I have on scams - would appreciate others' hard-earned (no pun intended) lessons.

1 -- Don't pay money up front to agencies
Fortunately, I have not done this, but I figure, if an agency demands money up front (especially cash), that's gotta be a scam.  I mean, how can you guarantee / enforce that someone will actually show up?  They already have the money.

2 -- Look at the provider before letting her in
At times, the provider would be hiding her face -- casually acting like she's looking somewhere else -- and at times like that, she's always been someone other than the advertised photo (sometimes distressingly so).  Ask to see her face.

3 -- Be clear about services before paying
Even if you're ok with who has shown up, don't pay anything until you've agreed to what the service will include.  Once they have the money, they can come up with all kinds of reasons to upsell.  Much better to get it all out there before you pay.


I've had very positive experiences with both independent and agency providers.  And I've had bad experiences with both.

Anything else that you can add would be much appreciated.

99% of Newbie problems & potential problems can be avoided simply by doing TER homework, and seeing top rated gals with 8+ reviews.

If you start discussing sexual favors prior to paying any money, that is a LE ploy to catch a gal on tape and take her down.

You have to rely on her reviews to know what she will do and what she won't.

Don't rely on other newbies for advice.  If you needed a doctor, would you go to your neighbor, or a doctor?  Assuming that your neighbor isn't a doctor, of course

You're very likely to be walked out on if you insist on discussing services before you make the donation...  exactly what LE would want.  

You need to do your home work.  You check out the reviews...  and stay with well reviewed ladies...  you'll select providers who are a good fit for your desires.  The cost of VIP is way less than a spoiled date or wasted opportunity.

I'm not sure I understood #1 correctly. Should you pay by credit card before the girl even arrives? Never. Never use a credit card for that matter. When she arrives though, most women expect the money up front, or expect to see the envelope laying somewhere in plain sight, and most women WILL check the envelope before getting started. Men aren't the only ones who get scammed.

As far as #3 goes, one of two things is going to happen. A legitimate provider is going to hang up on you, or walk out on you, never to talk to you again. Alternatively, LE is going to tell you that you just made their day by discussing services in graphic detail.

HERE is a list of how to avoid being scammed. Contrary to what you thought, tips on how to avoid being scammed are mentioned quite frequently here. There are really only two rules to remember....

1. Check for and read reviews

2. When in doubt, see rule #1

And most of the girls I saw were before I knew of TER.

That's because most providers aren't scam artists.

However -- with a resource like TER available, there's no reason to fly dark.

So Sin's advice is sound.

I'd add a third. To make absolutely certain no provider ever scams you, please send all intended hobby money to ME. (*grin*)

I appreciate everyone's responses, especially that #3 won't work, for reasons that are now obvious to me, and that we should go with providers with good TER reputations.  Thanks for the explanations.

While I've had some very good experiences, I've also been burned a couple of times.  I envy your sitation, johngaltnh.  Reading through the large number of reviews with a rating of "1 - a total ripoff", I'm inclined to think that you were lucky.

And yes, TER helps a lot.

Also TER dies a good job in screening fake reviews but you may have them from time to time. Case inpoint, it was a reviewer who was seeing a lot of CL girls. first review 8/9, then subsequent reviews were 5/6 and all the items that warrented 8/9 like BBJ, DFK was on the menu for him but no one else.  After about 4 cases, I wrote TER and a few reviews diappear and he never reviwed agaim. IDK if he was banned but he stopped reviewing

no substitute for compiling a list of ladies you would like to see and checking the reviews carefully with VIP to read the details since the profile may be outdated.

and you are also setting yourself up for not getting any of those things.  if she agrees or then asks you what you are willing to pay for it, she is likely a cop.  if she agrees and goes through with it, you might find out that full service is just a massage as you just acted as though you are a cop.  

if the lady is well reviewed, just place the envelope with your donation on the nightstand or dresser, ask to use the bathroom and when you return she will be what you expect about 90% of the time.   some ladies don't expect to see the donation until you are ready to leave - those with the most class anyway
