...I'll start with the free VIP days for writing a review. That information is in the Review FAQ's.
(The reviews tab is at the top of the page.)
You also get 2 days of VIP for reporting a problem in a provider's profile. I found out about this by actually reporting a problem and getting the response from TER that the issue was fixed and they'd given me the two free days of VIP. I have also often read about it on the boards. This information is in the Review FAQ's as well.
The "Report this Post" button is a fairly new thing here and the way I found out about the 2 days for reporting a post was to read about it in a board discussion like you did. It's not in the Self-Help Center nor in the Message Board Policies. I've read both of those many times over the years. I could have missed it but it appears this information isn't anywhere.
You probably already know this but for the sake of others reading this I'll say since you have your handle/user name linked to your TER provider's profile you have the free limited provider's VIP which is not restricted to any number of days. It allows you to use the PM system, view your own reviews in the entirety, and white list clients. The link under your handle in your post "See My TER Reviews" lets guys quickly check out your contact info, reviews, stats etc. The information about that is in the Self-Help Center under the heading of Some Info for Providers.
That covers all I know about anything free related to VIP. Hope it helped.
There are many rules and policies which are not mentioned anywhere. Some you find out when you do something and some you find by communicating with admin or support, and some you find by reading discussion boards.
For example the free days for reporting a post is not mentioned anywhere officially, but it is mentioned by board posters every now and then. If you reported a post and TER agreed with you, (and you were the first to report it) your feedback will say, "thank you for your support +2." That means you got 2 free VIP days (effective immediately). If they don't agree with you, or if someone else reports it first, you get nothing. I know this from experience but I have never seen it posted officially anywhere on the site.
Other examples are getting admittance to the private boards. The official rules for getting on the reviewers only board is to have 10 reviews submitted and accepted. To get on the Providers only board you need to have 3 reviews. These are the official policies and can be found in writing on the site. However try getting admittance with the correct number of reviews but no posting history, and you will find there are more unwritten rules for admittance. They will tell you that you need a posting history.
Another thing is new member moderation. I don't believe the policy is mentioned anywhere but all new members' posts are moderated. Eventually they can ask to be unmoderated. There are no specific rules as to how long you need to post or how many posts you need before you get unmoderated.
In any case, most of the rules and policies can be found by reading the site. Check the Self Help Center, the Discussion Board Posting Guidelines, the FAQ, the site map etc. (Self help center and Discussion board guidelines links are at the top if the page bear the life preserver. Look for the other links along the bottom of the page.)
