Hello folks,

New in this area (Los Angeles)but not a first timer. I'm a bit confused on how to get references. I've made two calls and got hung up on twice because i had no references. Seemed a bit odd at first, but i'm sure there's a good reason. I'm just a bit stuck at the moment. Any suggestions from seasoned vets?

You must be a hell of a conversationalist to get hung up on twice!

Firstly, examine what you are saying.  If you literally got hung up on its probably not the reference issue but something you are saying.  Read the girls' websites, all your questions should be answered there.

Check the "contact" page of the site and if there is a spot for verification give all the possible info.  Since you don't have references you'll have to rely on work verification.  you'll find that you can't complete some of the forms because references are mandatory, you'll have to skip those girls and move on.

Once you fill in the verification section then call the girl...but be careful to discuss only things within th elimits of legal activity.

The OP said he was new to the area, not "New".  If he's got refs from his previous location that should help as well.

Other thing, think about sending an e-mail the first time.  It's easier to write, read, edit the written word than the spoken word.  It might help avoid an unintended slip that's tripping you up.

1.  Search for providers that say they are newbie friendly.  You may have to provider some personal info for them.

2.  Join a verification site like Date Check or Preferred 411.  Find out which one is most heavily used in your area and join that one.  I have both.
Once you see a provider, you can ask her to give you a reference on DC or an OK on P411.

Good luck.

Ignoring your first sentence, I will say that all that was said was fine up until the point where i was asked for a reference. To which I was informed that without a reference I was shit out of luck.

I have checked most of the sites that interested me and claimed to be newbie friendly but still ask for 2 references.

So now i'm looking into membership at either date-check or RS2k.

What do you think about RS2k? i'm looking into that now.

I don't think the places i've been in my previous locations would even take referral calls. This system is a lot different and more paranoid, again, i'm sure for good reason.

Currently looking into RS2k. My question is, is it a well known and used verification site? Is it accepted by any providers that you know of?

The prevalence of use of the verification sites are largely regional. RS2k is great. As is P411 and is date-check. However, RS2K, from what I understand, is used mostly in the Midwest and is king here in the Chicago area. I haven't heard that it's used widely out west.

So I don't know much about it.  DC and P411 are widely used down here.  As previous post said, RS2K is big in Chicago area.

I would look at the 3 sites and see which is most prevalent in your area and join accordingly.  I have membership in both DC and P411.  DC lifetime is only $125 anyway.
