More Information Needed

Your post reflects thoughts that have been running through my head.  There was another post about STD's, but no one responded regarding where to get reliable information.  There seems to be quite a bit of unprotected oral sex going on, and I'm wondering if anybody has the real facts about what chances are being taken.  I love to perform oral sex on a woman, but I'm worried about the possible consequences.  Any providers or clients in the medical community out there????

Very few of us (neither providers nor clients) would ever attempt BBFS, for health risk reasons.  Yet, to read our reviews, BBBJ and DATY seem to be very widely accepted.

Granted, those latter practices are considerably less riskly than unprotected full intercourse.  But are those 'lesser' behaviors really safe?  Don't we all need more discussion about this?

Personally, the only source I totally trust for authoritative information on this health subject is the Center for Disease Control website. I've attached a link to one good article there.  You may want to browse around on their entire website, not just read the direct link.

To put it simply and bluntly: We need to avoid having any little places where blood, vaginal fluid, and semen (all of which can carry HIV/Aids and other diseases) can come in contact with each other.

At bare minimum (pardon the pun) I think we men should check ourselves for any little cuts or sores on the penis or testicles, and avoid any BBBJ unless every bit of skin feels and looks quite whole and solid.

Similarly, if we have any bleeding gums, it would be wise to avoid DATY. Toothbrushing (which can open up little holes in the gums) should probably be avoided for at least least a few hours beforehand. (AM brush; mild mouthwash only before PM appointment).

Re BBBJ: I am also concerned about the reverse suction that occurs right after ejaculation. You (a client) could be sucking in her blood, or someone else's leftover semen!  So, lovely though it is, BBBJTCWS is probably not a risk-free action.  BBBJ with completion outside may be a little safer.  (I'm speculating, because there aren't any scientific studies I know of squarely on that point.)

The CDC suggests that saran wrap may make DATY safer. I know that sounds wierd, but shouldn't we consider that? The CDC also suggests a 'dental dam'.  I don't know what that is, or where one buys one, let alone how it might feel!

Probably the safest course is to go right from kissing and fondling into condom-protected intercourse in any way(s) that excite(s) us: CG, RCG and/or mish.  It's really probably better to enjoy many, many years of those lovely options, than foreshortened years with BBBJs and unprotected DATYs as well.

A little benefit of choosing that medical standard is that it leaves a little more incentive for your still trying to develop (while pursuing the hobby) a commited monagomous relationship with a trusted girlfriend or wife or mistress...where you could perhaps both show each other your medical tests first, and then share BBBJ and DATY without as much worry.

In the meanwhile, condoms are cheap, and intercourse may be pleasant enough by itself.

I hope I can live up to the stringent health standard I'm espousing here.  Believe me, I know narrowing sexual options is difficult, DATY is tasty, and BBBJTCWS is very tempting.

Obviously, everyone will have to make their own tradeoffs between their desired rewards and risk considerations.

I would be particularly interested in hearing from clients and providers with medical backgrounds.

Maybe, for 2004, we all can and should have some significant discussions and personal sharing on these health issues, of continuing and truly vital importance to all of us.

A very happy and safe new year to you all.
