Im in the same predicament your in. Its A major roadblock!!!!! I currently in need of a review too

So... I'm pretty new to being a provider, and I'm just looking for any advice folks can offer.  I've been having a hard time getting anyone to review me, and this seems to be a major roadblock for me.

That's a tough one. You need that first review to get your profile up and running.

Sounds like you have been active. Offer your favorite guy a discount if he writes a review for you.

Otherwise, just ask nicely. I am sure some nice hobbyist is willing to help!

Where are you located?

I'm coming to the states in March to hobby my way around the country so I will have the same problem of having no reviews to start off! and being unknown! as we don't really need to screen and review in Australia. I was thinking about it and I thought maybe if you're with a client who's friendly and has enjoyed his time just ask him if he'd do a quick review online while he's with you? I once asked a client in a 3 hour booking to take some photos of me on my iPhone and it was a bit of fun, he got a kick out of seeing a couple of the photos online. I don't know just thought one client may get a kick out of helping you if you ask sweetly :)

From the pictures on your website, I'd say you shouldn't have ANY problems at all here in the States. I love Australia…been there a few times.

TER tracks IP addresses, so if they see that the review comes from the same IP address that you have logged on under, then you will be accused of doing a self review, and you may well be banned from the site.

I know it's hard getting those first few reviews -- it's like how you need experience to get a job, but you can't get experience until you get a job -- but tread carefully.  Even if you don't tell the client what to say in the review, just the appearance of writing it together can have unintended consequences.

computer to do a review of you or anyone else for that matter. TER frowns on this.

Thanks so much for all the replies, it's such a different system here in Oz. We can advertise freely in local newspapers and online, it's very safe and easy honestly so I appreciate help navigating an unfamiliar system.

First ... If you aren't advertising in your local area's TER ad forum, do so asap then...
Offer a discount to the first easily verified TER member to book a session this week ... Such as $100 off ... Make it a good one worth someone giving you a try ... Then only give the discount if they have written several reviews and decent ones .... That way you will get your first review and from someone we all know to be trusted and you will be in! Do not advertise a discount for a review it's not allowed and will appear "bought" ... I do very well from ter guys and my first review was in April .... Keep chatting in the forums but don't look desperate ... This way hobbyists can get a sense of your personality and help you to book that first appt and many more after.

Good Luc

Who was kicked off years ago & is no longer on TER.  He had private parties & introduced me to lots of guys & gals in this industry.  I wish I knew of TER when I first started years before that & knew about the rating system because I would have strived for high scores.  I would recommend targeting long time embers of the community who are whitelisted, or right reviews you can view the top 100 reviews in your city if your a VIP member.

Asking here is good so you are creating awareness that you are a provider. A good website accompanied by nice pictures is a great way to start..you don't have to go overboard and spend tons of money but at least show guys that you are established. I know is hard to start but you are on your way, be professional, trustworthy and genuine. You never know if one of your non reviewer friends may send a established reviewer your way.

will help guys get to know you. Sooner rather than later, some established hobbyist will take a chance on you, write a great review, and you will be on your way.

Good luck.

As a Newbie (as we all once were) you are "Moderated" which means your posts are reviewed by the TER Gods before they display.  It can be discouraging to bother to comment on threads...  but you need to participate so guys can get to know you.  After a period of time & posts which follow the rules, you can request to be unModerated.  (If you break the rules, expect to be Moderated again.)  After some days & with a posting history, request to be unmoderated!
BE careful about starting threads because they look like Ads & will likely get moved to the ad board & checked for all Ad requirements.  You should post a FREE Ad one per 7 days is allowed.

It is always recommended (though not always followed) for new clients to stick to well reviewed providers.  So how does a gal break in?  Getting herself known on the boards can offset lack of reviews for some & especially more experienced hobbiests.
I became interested in one lady through her participation here & will see her again if I get to her area.

Everything you have said so far as been very useful, Thank You so much!
