use Preferred411 it seems the best for this area.  All providers will do their own screening but this helps for sure.  Good Luck..

P411, DC or, RS2K if you're in the Chicago area. Then search for well reviewed newbie friendly providers on those sites, you may need to provide additional info to her but that's a good way to get started.

I am absolutely in the same boat with you.  I chose to go VIP and P411 before even attempting to contact anyone.  My POV - it shows I'm serious, and have done some research.  P411 was very convenient and responsive.  Good luck.

TER and p411 are the best way to go.
