Nevertheless, I often will post something complimentary under the ad post of someone I know and like as a favor to them and a service to a prospective client, and not for any other reason.
It is not shilling by the "letter of the law" because a shill post is an original post by definition.
Giving someone a recommendation of another provider, is by definition, not a shill. However, it is very much a shill by a spirit of the law. The posts that you just pasted on the screen have gone beyond what most hobbyists consider a well meaning and selfless recommendation
I guess "spirit" is just as "Unfortunately" removed from "law" as is 'justice' is at times.

I just wish to point out that whenever a person posts a complimentary comment under a provider's ad or other posting, they are not necessarily shilling.
Cases of shilling are where it can be reasonably shown that the person's only interest in posting the compliment was to gain something of value from the provider.
Personally, I think that is rare, but I will allow that it must happen sometime.
Good will and comity from the provider might be a result of my posting a compliment, but I hardly think that counts as a tangible.
On Fridays only, a local hobbyist can start a thread on Regional Board in praise of a woman. Its usually done in context of someone they had fun times with that week.
then by no means is it shilling. Seeing multiple responses under an ad may get my attention to check out that person's ad. It's really not that different than "liking" a picture posted on the Photo Board, IMHO.
A lady asked me to write a new profile for her because she likes my writing style. If I take credit, then would it be a shill? If not, then it's just a lovely note to a beautiful lady.
