First, every travelling provider sees the number of appointments necessary for her to cover the expenses of the trip; hotel, airfare, food, incidentals. This number differs for each provider.
Secondly, what do you do on a business trip when you have down time. She may take in the sites of the city, may use the hotel gym, may go shopping or have her hair done. She may visit providers she knows who work in that area.
When ladies travel to other cities either with an agency or as an independent, what do they do in between appointments? How many appointments do most usually see in a day?

Ladies, if you have to buy your own travel and hotels, what is the point of working for an agent? Why not just do it yourself? What do agents do besides simply booking appts?
LOL, there is nothing "simple" about booking appointments. The fact is booking safely and screening properly is a lot of work and some ladies simply don't want to go through it. They would rather pay a fee to have someone else do it for them.
Agents, or agencies, as the case may be, perform the same tasks for providers that they do for talent in any other field. They are responsible for promotion, bookings and often travel itinerary. They charge a fee to perform services that talent does not want to have handle themselves.
There's no "business" side of being a good provider. All we do is lie on our backs and get paid to make the big bucks.
(Yeah, right.)
I'll spend a little more time addressing the question of why girls might use agencies, to the best of my understanding.
As Bostonguy mentioned, booking is not such an easy or simple task (most aspects of our job, in fact, are not easy tasks). Say I get 50 emails in one day (not unheard of). At a minimum, I spend 2 minutes opening, reading, and responding to each one (a very low minimum, as many of my emails are long and thus take a longer time to respond). 50 emails x 2 minutes per is over an hour and a half right there, each day.
Not only do I have to read and respond to these emails, I have to screen the guys- which can be quite a feat in itself. Not everyone wants to give me their personal information. Not everyone has provider references- some guys don't even know what provider references are! Men don't always give me all the information I ask for otherwise (age, etc.) Once I get this information, I then have to take the time to check it out. In many cases, they'll send the names of providers as references, but give me no contact number. Then I have to come and research the providers to make sure they're legit. If I'm not sure which one (there can be several "Ashleys" or "Brittanys" in an area), I have to email the guy back and ask which one. Once I know, I have to send the refs emails. And await their replies. Not all will get back to me, so I have to resend. If that still doesn't work, I have to find another way to screen the guy.
That's just a taste of what we have to do, and doesn't even begin to cover advertising and promotion.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. Just wanted to give you a taste of what it's like for us. It's not as simple as a lot of fellows believe.
Even though you don't use it as advertising under this particular identity, you are still making a integral contribution to the hobby as a whole, which filters back into your own unique experience.
Even though I don't agree with some of the stuff you say, I still appreciate every post you make. Your posts are consistently well written, thought provoking, organized, and applicable to the threads at hand. This must be time consuming, yet you do it anyway because of the contribution you make. Should be factored into the business end of it.
