And yet...she was just not that hot...to me. Not really a question of performance but of chemistry and what pushes my buttons (thus not her fault). So what I'm saying is there is no way you can be absolutely sure. This is an area where everybody has different expectations, buttons...stuff...There will always be grey areas.
There will never be a review system that is perfect. But if you work the system long enough you'll find a way to make it work for you. Or find another hobby.
Yes I'm a Newbie with my first two dates under my belt. I guess I'm rather picky, so when I did my search I required the appearance rating to be 8-10. Both of the ladies that I met with had fabulous reviews saying that they were "model material" even some comments about how beautiful they were.
I'm wondering if my standards are just too high and there is a grading curve in the hobby, that I'm not aware of. Or is something else going on here. I had two dates in the past two weeks with providers that were unrelated to each other. The website pics always hide the face , which I understand, but what the hell? When I read comments from a review that says a provider is the hottest girl around, I expect a lot. To these girls' credit , they both had hot bodies and maybe that's what the reviewers were talking about.
Should there be a "Butter Face" category?
Are reviewers afraid to tell the truth, I know I am now. If I write a review about my real opinion It will be the worst one that both of these providers have ever gotten.
Please help me out with this.

1) People have differing views of beauty.
2) Reviewers want to be nice to the girl they just saw and not give a lower grade than she's been getting.
3) Reviewers are afraid of a provider turning on them for a low grade.
4) Reviewers simply do not read the criteria for each numerical grade.
I am sure there are more reasons, but you get the picture. While people don't all agree on how the numbers should be used, they do agree that numbers alone should never be used to decide who to see. First of all you need to be a VIP and read the Juicy Details for a further physical description, among other things. Next, go to her site. If her face is blurred you can move on. You also can PM some of her reviewers, especially ones you've learned are well regarded. I also like to read a girl's reviews which give her lower numerical scores to learn why. Finally, if you're reading an ad, make sure to use tineye to check to see if her pix are real or she's a B&S.
If looks are the most important aspect in your hobbying experience, more often than not you will walk away disappointed from a session. Rarely will you ever meet a provider who looks better in person than she does in her advertising photos. Now many providers will look AS expected, but not better. It's marketing 101. They are going to accentuate their best features and attributes. If you understand that the photos are designed solely to make you want to set up an appointment, you will not be as unhappy if the photos and or reviews do not match your high expectations.
I think for the most part established hobbyists who write reviews tell the truth about the looks of a provider. But its from their perspective. Every hobbyist has a different view on what ladies they find attractive. I may score someone an 8 for looks; you might feel they are a 4. And vica versa.
I have learned over the years you need to look at the totality of a session when reading a review. Don't just focus on her looks, or her performance, or her attitude, or the cleaniness of her apartment, or her donation, etc. You may be disappointed in one particular aspect, but taking everything together, the lady may make an excellent choice.
but quite frankly it's not always a matter of taste. Plainly put there are a huge number of reviewers that just have no standards and hand out 9's and 10's to any fat broad with a pulse. I wish I could put it in a nicer manner, but there is simply no nice way to say it.
The only option where it comes to being able to only book with hot women is to either only see women reviewed by hobbyists that you learn to trust that their standards are the same as your own or to only book with women who's reviews attest that the pics are accurate and who don't blur their features.
Still not fool proof, but the best advice I can offer.
I won't try to outdo his colorful way of putting it. Like the OP, it was a lesson I learned early on. When it comes to looks, you can never take a reviewer's word for it, and blurred face pics are always a gamble.
I like Inicky's breakdown of why grade inflation occurs, but I would definitely knock "differing views of beauty" down from #1 to well below "being nice to providers" and "fearing retaliation". Over time, I've almost learned to detect the kind of gushing reviewers who are prone to that and factor it in.
Another way we're all fallible to varying degrees is "hobby goggles". A rather dumpy broad with a nice smile who wouldn't rate a 6 in a singles bar suddenly becomes a 9 when she's available to fuck and suck a hobbyist nine ways for 300 bucks. Forgetting to wear your goggles means you could be in for a shock.
The order I chose was not of importance, just the order in which they occurred to me! LOL!

I must say your advise about checking out other providers that hobbyists reviewed was top notch. Reading a solid review , then being able to read other reviews from that same person is very helpful. Not to mention comparing the websites for the various providers to the reviewer ranking. All I can say is that the "curve" is different for most hobbyists.
I am venturing out today (to RDU) after an exhausting amount of research. I've also picked out a couple providers to visit in ATL using this same research method.
I'll let you know how effective it was.

True, tastes do vary, but in general BBW or women over 45 getting 10 on appearance is not uncommon on this site, but it would be unusual in the "real world"... Just keep in mind that most guys writing the reviews do not have high standards because they could never get a 5 or higher in real life so anyone above 5 is a 9 and a 7 is a definite 10 in their eyes.
Here's how to gauge (sp?) the hottness factor:
-pornstars - they use unblurred photos, plenty of videos available, just watch the recent ones since even pornstars do age. If you like what you see, they are a sure bet
-models and ex-models - if you see tearsheets (magazine pages, professional modeling work) on their site / ads - they are 99% sure to be hot! The modeling industry does not put up with toads. Make sure their work is not from the 90s, look at the dates / clothes / hairstyle to make sure the look is current.
-all others:
-look at how long they've been in this business. Some will use photos from their glory days. Be careful not to be deceived by those glam shots from 10 years ago
-the clothes and hair are always a dead giveaway. I've seen providers whose photos are from the 80s and 90s!
-there are poses that everyone looks good in, e.g. laying on a bed kind of upside down. Try to see someone who has many photos from various angles
-look for obvious signs of photoshopping, e.g. no flyaway hairs in the photo, very soft lines that almost "glow", very tiny waist, arm, legs - that don't fit the rest of the body, furniture and other background items getting distorted, etc.
Other than that, it's a gamble, but what do you expect. It's p4p, no Better Business Bureau or any legal consequences, so the ladies will always have a marketing advantage! lol

You also have gotten a range of responses that reflect the posters personal agendas. By which I mean that a lot of this is people just repeating stuff they like to post in response to a lot of different topics.
Numerical scores are no more or less useful here than anywhere else. If you agree with the tastes of the reviewer, they are helpful, otherwise they mean nothing. Find a lady you like, and find a reviewer whose review seems to agree with your impression of her, PM him for suggestions and ideas on how to find ladies, and look at his other reviews and you will find other ladies you will like. Just like movie reviews, restaurant reviews or any other kind of reviews, the score is only useful if you know the reviewer to be reliable and his tastes and standards map to yours. There also is a lot of more honest info that can be gotten through PMs, though there is also a lot of negative trash flying there, too.
The other stuff about score inflation, guys trying to curry favor with girls or whatever is irrelevant, even if it is true.
Or you can just ignore the scores and read the reviews to form your own impression. The words give a much better impression of the lady, and the reviewer which is as important.
One thing that I find to be true is that the smaller the town, the easier the reviewers. Or to put it differently, a 9 in Omaha may be a 9 in New York, but it could also be a 6. More competition in a big city and less pressure on the reviewer to be nice, because of all that competition. So I now discount small city reviews and ladies who only are in small towns. Not fair in a way, but it seems to work.
So if you are in a small town/city, you may have to calibrate your expectations to what is available.

You're right, though, that numerical ratings are meaningless. And so are descriptive ratings, when the words "model material" are applied to so many ordinary looking providers. Good point also about ratings being relative to the size of the town. Except that ratings are meaningless, so who cares? lol
However, saying that the reasons for score inflation are "irrelevant" is IMO just blinkered. For one thing, it helps greatly in interpreting reviews to know what motives to take into account that can skew descriptions. For another, it's something we can all be aware of in our own reviews and try to improve on. I know it took me a while to realize I needed to catch myself from thinking too much about helping the provider and not enough about helping my fellow hobbyists.
always thought that a pretty face wasn't that subjective, but here in TER-land it turns out that it is. the really strange thing is when you do get a pretty girl and guys will argue that she ISN'T pretty, verifying it is subjective. Just know that it may take some mis-spent dough to find what you like, then be happy when you get it. Private messaging to reviewers can get you a little better information and if you start to get friends among the men or the women here, their tips and referrals help that much more.
Butter Face syndrome, weight fluctuation, bad-hair or PMS days, etc. are hard to avoid, even with good research. Just imagine what it must have been like before an awesome site like this existed?

I had no idea that I could PM another reviewer for "the real story". I'll try that next time. Like I said, I'm new to this, and after getting VIP and reading countless reviews, I thought I was going to get to bang a hot babe.
Is the reason that guys want to "curry favor "the fear of a girl retaliating by black listing a guy? The last provider I was with told me about some site were girls warn other girls about bad dudes. Do they blacklist guys for bad reviews? And that's why guys lie?
I will start PM'ing previous reviewers and move on when I have doubts.
My other precaution is that both of the ladies that I met hadnt had reviews since June. I didn't think that was too far back, but maybe I should keep my sights to the more recent?

will likely get no response. Start to be a giver by writing reviews, than you can ask. An escort without a review from June isn't a problem for me. I just saw an escort didn't have a review in 8 months. All sorts of reasons why. She may have taken a break in escorting. she may be only seeing regulars and they've already written reviews. Many reasons for the break in reviews. Escorts blacklist clients for lots of reasons, you just never know.
You can PM reviewers, but do not be surprised if you do not get a lot of replies. Without any history some guys like myself may be cautious about what information we share, you might not like the same things I do.
Secondly no one can tell you what a hot chick is unless you have common backgrounds. I am older and came from the days of agencies with absolutely no idea of what the lady showing up would even look like. In comparison getting to look at pictures before deciding and reading reviews makes a lot of the ladies look like hot chicks today. Also I am older so a lot of ladies look like hot chicks to me now, a 35 year old is great now but when I was in my 20's she would not come close to qualifying. Along with all the other replies about grade inflation pretty much says that anyone who uses the numbers to select a lady is getting lazy. I find ladies whose pictures appeal to me and then read the reviews to see if the reviews match the pictures. I only use the numbers as a way of finding the best and the worst of one ladies reviews and then I know the lady probably falls somewhere in the middle. The only time I would take anyone's number score as anything useful is if it's another guy in the area who has seen at least two of the ladies I have already seen and from checking his reviews I find we have similar tastes. Even if you get replies to a PM what does that tell you about the lady if you don't know the person telling you. Would you go up to a 90 year old man on a street and ask him to point out a hot chick for you and expect that you'll agree when he points out the 65 year old lady?
and yes, I've met some codgers who have exactly the same tastes as me. clams casino, for instance, always tells it like it is.
Problem is not too many women provide, so the options are very limited. Once in a while someone new comes along who is good looking, but they are often the exception, not the rule. Also be prepared to pay 500/hour for "sorority girl" kind of looks. In the 200-300/hour range, you just have to be patient and a bit lucky to find the gold..

I've been told I'm 'model material' and 'super hot' but I don't let my head swell. There is no way I'd ever be a model and I'm not "super hot". I'm good looking yes, and fit but not the hottest around. Sometimes I check out other provider's website's and photos and I think "damn! I'd pay to fuck her too!" lol
Take every review with a grain of salt. What one guy thinks as "super hot" could be to you just average looking. Oh and don't forget if she truly is model material and super hot you're going to be paying top dollar...expect $400+ and from what I heard most of these "super hot" ladies tend to be more business like and have lots of rules, but I'm sure there are exceptions...

I don't show my face online for two reasons:
1. I don't want my kids or their friends to ever recognize me.
2. When I'm traveling, I worry that someone from a hotel might recognize me.
Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but that's my choice. But I''m always willing to send a picture of my face when someone requests that either by email or I can text a photo by phone.
Is that something many hobbyists do? Ask for a face picture when faces are blurred?
