OK, I'm a first timer tryingt to get up some courage to actually do this. My biggest fears are disease and the idea of giving my real name when I'm married (and open to blackmail by unscrupulous types). Any advice from veterans?

My suggestions would be:

On the health issue, insist that everything be done covered, and don't do DATY. As you gain experience, then you can decide whether you want to change these rules.

On the privacy issue, give your name if required, but see a highly visible lady. Someone with a lot of reviews, or someone who posts frequently on the local or general discussion boards. My point here is that unscrupulous types generally will not be in either one of those two categories.
