Gmail disabled blocked or canceled?

I logged in to my gmail account and read some mail.

I sent a routine email to a previously used working email address and got a bounce back that my mail was not delivered. I forget the exact error (except it said "permanent").

The next thing I know, my account is dead. I try to log in again and I get "Account temporarily disabled". Down below, I opt for "If you are unable to restore your account using a mobile phone, you can also contact support for further assistance." and I fill out the form using "contact us" link.

A day later, I still can't log in.

Anybody have any advice or experiences to share? Does mobile phone unblocking work better or faster?

How do providers feel if I have to change e-mail addresses and have lost older info (phone numbers, etc.) in the old e-mails?

All I can say is, what a pain.

They'll tank an account if htey think it is being used for illegal purposes.

It might have been closed due to inactivity.

I log in almost every day, at least to check for mail, even if I don't send or receive anything. It's not due to inactivity.

Regarding the post above, I sometimes use it to send mildly sexy "stories" (suggestive but never explicit) to various people and fantasize about meeting them sometimes. I don't see how that is illegal. Is somebody at google reading my mail and taking wild guesses about what those emails mean?

So, if the account is dead, does anyone know ...

(1) do they let you recover info from saved mail, like passwords to websites and such?
(2) do you just open a new gmail account and try again? Is there a better alternative (yahoo, hotmail, etc.)?

Thanks.

I use my main one a few times a day.  But I have another I haven't logged onto in over 2 years.  Just checked it now and it still works.  Don't think the activity level is the issue.

Keep hobby and any other use separate.  I dare say all email providers will disable for illegal activity.  Yes, PITA.  I imagine right about now, to have your address book backed up somewhere.
My ATF lost a hotmail account...  & all her contacts...  she never got it back.  I thought she as avoiding me for unknown reasons...  She thought, at the time,  it was hacked but it may well have been the service cleaning house.

I'd say, forget about your old account.  Open a new one & begin informing your contacts of your new address.  PITA, but it is what it is.  You might want an address backup but be sure to not create a security risk when doing so.

They use software that scans for the word/phrase patterns. Just like when you call a service line and they record your call for quality purposes... they use LVCSR software to create text from speech and then the software scans for indications that you're happy, mad, cancelling your account, etc.

I certainly don't use anything explicit in my emails. I might FANTASIZE and say things like "I look forward to meeting you at your hotel in NY on Thursday at 5 PM."  What's illegal about that?

I think I only lost one or two pieces of info not readily available otherwise.

Yeah ... I guess I better create a new account someplace.

Anybody have suggestions or a ranking of friendlier EMAIL providers :-) ?

Right now, I'm giving gmail a 8 for appearance and a 2 (I should have stayed home) for performance.
