A lady with 6-10 good reviews from reviewers with a history, should be a fairly good bet.  Take a closer look at the reviewer's history, if you are concerned.  Some guys don't hobby but a few times a year, for whatever reason, and everyone doesn't write reviews.  Some providers only work on a part time basis.  So a couple of months without a review posted is not alarming in and of itself.  Be patient and you will find the right one that clicks for you.  You are on the right track, but don't over think it.

So I'm in CT. I didn't know there was a New England search option; I thought I would have to travel to NYC but there seems to be a few cute providers around here. The thing is, there doesn't seem to be a big scene for this kind of thing in CT. Most of the providers are independent and only have backpage ads. Some of the reviews seem good, but I have no idea what's a reasonable number of reviews to make a decision to go for it.

I've heard that if it's too good to be true, it's probably LE or scams. I've tried reading around the forums. However, I've never done this before and I have no idea what to expect or what's reasonable to expect; what's "too good to be true" or not.

I have my eye on a few CT providers. How many reviews MINIMUM should I assume is safe?

Like I said, these girls don't have agencies so how does individual "vetting" for these sort of things go?

for CT On the TER New England regional ad board. Also if you search New England reviews, there seems to be a bunch, so you should be able to find ladies right here on TER. However if you vencher out of TER, besides Backpage there is EROS and a few other ad mall sites to check out. As a newbie you should stick to well reviewed ladies. Wherever you find the ads, do check for reviews.

To answer your question about what is a reasonable number, different people may have different ideas. In my opinion you should look for at least 5 or 6 reviews, and half of those (at least 3) should be written by reviewers with at least 5 or 6 reviews themselves.

I see. I get really nervous when I see a girl's profile and she may have a decent number of reviews (6, 8, 10, whatever) but in all but one or two cases, she's the LAST girl these guys reviewed. I can't help but wonder "What happened to these guys? Why was she the last one they reviewed 1 or 2 or 3 months ago? Where they busted? Will it happen to me?"

I'm really not into anything too freaky or exotic. I just want a "conventional" session. If I were to call, text or email one of these girls, should I just leave it all "unspoken?" Just agree to go to the place and take it from there? What if she starts asking for specifics?

Absolutely.  If you start discussing services, most likely she'll stop communicating.  That type of talk reeks of LE trying to bust her.  You'll need VIP to read the complete reviews but if she offers the services you want, you should be all set.  Once you are behind closed doors, she may ask "what you like" which is when most get tongue tied.  Having an idea you can whisper any special requests or ideas on where you'd like to start...   She won't and shouldn't ask YOU for specifics...  if she does, You should be suspicious.  It breaks the basic unwritten rules of the hobby.

I have VIP and I've read the reviews so I have a pretty good idea of who I want my first providers to be.

Even this would get me nervous; I really don't want to discuss anything until we get to it.

How does this sound? If she asks what I like, I'll say something like "Don't worry, nothing kinky or freaky"? Think she'll get the idea that I want to do it normal and get started right away?

I suggest you look at the New England board, or that you whittle down your inquiry to a specific question with several providers you are looking at.

Some of us can then help you with the process.
