I have my own issues with agencies at large, and don't use them.  But I'll set that to the side for this reply:

Agencies are normally not super beginner friendly as they generally require references before they will even talk to you.

I contacted an agency recently and all i needed is a picture of my driver license.  of course i sent it after covering all personal information..........sans first name and picture.
