Excessive screening

OK, so I'm not a complete newb since I've had four appointments so far. However I made an appt. today with a provider that works for an agency. Definitely my first time for that.

I was talking with whoever makes their appointments and the questions are pretty normal...except that I can hear her typing in the background. Then she starts asking me questions that let me know she's looked me up on a database somewhere. So for example I gave her my middle initial and she told me I might have it wrong, "is there something with an M?". I explained that I had legally changed my name and she seemed fine with that. So she goes on to ask about my age which I tend to fib about a bit (I don't know why) and she corrected that as well.

So I made the appointment but by this time I'm pretty weirded out. On the one hand, I've never heard of agencies having access to databases like that and the provider has 7 or 8 reviews going back to last fall I think. OTOH if this was LE would they really want to risk scaring away the prey like that?

Any input would be appreciated.

Still don't think you have much to worry about but remember to only share info you are comfortable with. Move on if anyone asks stuff you are not comfortable with sharing.

try googling your own phone number or name and see how many sites provide look up services. If your verifying clients all day long the membership costs to have quick access are not that great. You were being verified plain and simple. That is why some of us subscribe to p411 or date check etc. I would rather only give out that info once the more times you give it out the more risk.

DUHHH!!! OK so now my face is a bit red. Sadly, I've looked up info on DBs like that in the past so I know they're out there. I guess between thinking with the wrong head and still being a bit nervous takes it's toll on the old thinking ability.

Thanks guys!!
