Doesn't make sense

Having no actual review would be fairly useless - it wouldn't really tell you much more than the ad itself could. It would also flood TER with many entries that aren't helpful. The main strength of TER is the REVIEWS, that's why it's called The Erotic REVIEW and not The Erotic PROVIDER LIST.

Besides, a lot of BP girls don't hang around for very long. If they're not in the biz for long then they're unlikely to be a great choice anyway especially with all the great ladies out there who DO have reviews and experience. It's a major reason why I don't really bother with Backpage anymore.

So I've been browsing around backpage and have noticed alot of girls (especially 18-20 year olds) who don't have a review.  I was wondering if it would be a useful thing to do to start adding these girls ads and phone numbers into the database by submitting a review even if we haven't met with her.  I figure this may be a way to get a new provider in early as well as jump onto a scam asap.  especially if the phone number stays the same but the name and photo starts changing.  Or vice versa.

the review itself wouldn't be useful as it would consist of "I don't know" and a description of "just adding to database" but the phone number and ad link may be valuable at some point.

what do you guys think?

1.  The review would never get approved.

2.  You'd get banned for writing false reviews.

Not a great idea.

Ok first let me say I wouldn't post a review like that without express permission from a mod.  that's why I posted here instead of just doing it.

That being said, I don't think I communicated the idea and reasoning behind it all that well so let me try again.

I would like to have some way to add a phone number, corresponding online advertisement and some of the basic info to the database without having met with the girl first.

The reason for this is because we can all benefit from the research done by a single person.

Take this ad for instance:
http://phoenix.backpage.com/FemaleEscorts/vip-i-t-a-l-i-a-n-r-e-s-o-r-t-m-o-d-e-l-sexy-and-sweet-23/10067486

The number is not listed in the database but even without meeting the girl I know there is a 99% chance that she is NOT the one in the photo.  I know this because I performed a tineye search on the photo in the ad and was directed to adult advertisements on various russian websites.

Obviously it's possible she is a legitimate provider who is simply concerned with privacy.  However, a fake photo also tends to accompany bad things like scams and LE.  By including this info in the database we can at least help our fellows make an informed decision.

Even if tineye returns nothing, we can still potentially benefit from the link between the ad, name, basic info, and phone number.  If, at a later time, a user was to search for the number in the database finding nothing is no benefit.  However, if the person finds the ad he may be able to get some useful information from it.  For example; if the ad he is looking at has pictures which differ significantly from the one linked in the database.

The fact is new providers enter the market every day if we can help reduce the risk of meeting one even a little we are helping out our fellow hobbyists and new providers alike.  Especially if that person is or is into younger girls who are less likely to have a profile and reviews.  At the end of the day isn't reducing risk the point of this place?

Of course I also realize that for every upside there is a downside.  In this case it is an increased workload for mods who have to approve the entries and an increase in the size of the database.  A way to address the second issue is to have these posts automatically expire after a year or so unless a full review is created.  The first issue could also be addressed relatively easily by creating a class of volunteer user between full mod and long time VIP who can assume some of the workload (a common practice on other sites).

Hopefully that clarifies my earlier statements even if the post now belongs more in the suggestion & policy section than here.

OK, here's the deal.  First, as moderator I have nothing to do with reviews.  I don't see them before they're approved by someone else, and in fact, I'm not allowed to write them while moderating.

Additionally, this is a review site, not a database of potential providers.  For you to do what you're suggesting here, you'd need to meet her and confirm your suspicions.  Your idea isn't a bad one, but this isn't the place for it.

So, assuming that you used a Phoenix example because that's where you frequent, I'd suggest you post your finds on the Phoenix board, where others can read and search for them.

Fair enough.  I don't claim to know the mod structure or specific moderator related policies.  I am also only passingly familiar with the driving purpose or mission of this site.  I am happy to bow to your superior knowledge and experience in those areas.

Furthermore, I would like to restate that I have read and understand the current policies regarding reviews and have no intention of violating them.  This post was initially intended as a query into the feasibility of an idea and nothing more.  Though I will admit it has changed into more of a humble suggestion.

I also understand that the idea may be completely impractical for any number of reasons not the least of which is the potential difficulties surrounding implementation.

However, I would like to point out that while this site is currently used as a review site it is fundamentally database driven.  That makes this site a database of reviewed providers and not simply a list of reviews.  IN THEORY the current database could be subtly re-tasked to include the features I proposed.  Once re-tasked, the existing database becomes an even more powerful tool which can perform the additional functions far more efficiently than a message board.

I would also point out that the database already performs these functions to the degree that it currently contains listings for poor quality and scam providers some of which are more than ten years old.  My idea would only expand that group in the hopes of benefiting the users (myself very much included).

I fear I may sound argumentative (I kinda get that way when I take something seriously) in this post and would like to assure you that my intent is discussion not disrespect.

As you know I am new to this site and to the hobby.  Feedback on my ideas whether they are good, bad, or just plain unrealistic is always appreciated.  Especially from a moderator such as yourself.
Thank you.
