So, I am just getting into the hobby and have not seen any provider as of yet. Though, I am seriously interested in seeing one when I make a quick trip to VA as my first provider.  Though she requires verification information, which is perfectly understandable, and she listed a few verification sites like Preferred 411 and Date-Check.

My problem is that I don't know which one I should sign up with, and I am slightly uncomfortable with the sites calling my office. So I wanted to get some opinions from other hobbists as to how they feel about these sites and which one they like to use.  Providers are more than welcomed to give their opinions on which sites they prefer and all.

Verification sites are sometimes popular by area.
You might want to consider posting this question on the regional board where you will be hobbying.
Some clients actually belong to more than one verification sites. Good luck!

Which opens the door to my question about Date-Check. When you're logged in, there's a list of members currently on-line, group by color.

Does anybody know what the colors and font (roman versus italics) means?

From the top down, I see pink, blue, brown, white, orange, white, yellow. Some names are in regular type; some are italicized.

What's the code?

I have seen DC saying that you will get discounts with providers if you are a member? How many providers actually do that?
