what's the difference between an escort and a provider?

on the homepage of ter it states that this site is the premiere community for hobbyist, escorts, AND providers....


I thought a provider and an escort were the same things.

An escort is a (service) provider; not all providers are escorts

This website features reviews on other kinds of (service) providers including "massage"/BDSM providers, dominatrix, etc.

While there are escorts who do just that, "escort", in a nonsexual way. I don't know any, nor do I care to. lol
