How long was the date for. If it was an over-niter, and/or included travel, he may just be into going out in nature and watching birds with a beautiful woman by his side. And, perhaps adding a little sex in the midst of mother nature.

I can't be sure, but the reference to "Birdwatcher" once was related to a "Swallow." Put 2 and 2 together ... could be correct??

Of course, out of the obvious, actual bird watching (real birds). There was a time in '60's that the Englander's called the girls "birds", so would that be girl watching?
