BEFORE giving out to the provider you are trying to set up with.

That way she is on board and will be looking for the contact from the new provider.

 
It's a common  courtesy to do so in any case.

politely via text or email just after a meeting for good measure. It gets easier when you meet someone you like and become a regular. Your regulars will always give you reference but it's always good to have a good rapport with all of those you see.
