I work for a school district and I'm concerned about these services contacting my employer. I wonder if they call as if they are an employer checking references?
As a complete newb with no references, I am sure the provider I've selected will want this verification. She's solid (5+ years, website, many reviews Madison, WI) - but (to her credit ) I think she'll screen carefully.
I don't really want to contact her w/o the date-check membership as I don't want to be black listed as a risk. I'd be happy provide other information if it would help. I'm unmarried and have my own place so my side of the equation is pretty simple. Any thoughts?
As another newb (saving up $$$) everything that I've read states that they verify numbers by calling for you specifically. I know 411 will let you add notes, so you could arguably put a script in there for them. If you're really nervous, ask them to identify themselves with, I don't know, Home Depot or something. Remember, their goal is to verify that you're putting in correct information -- not to lose clients!
