I was just wondering if adult search is legitimate. I've seen that a few reviewed providers on TER have adultsearch ads, so I assume it's not entirely illegitimate, but have also contacted a couple 'providers' from adultsearch who told me I had to buy credits on some cam sites and videochat with them to set up appointments. The excuse was that it helped verify you're not a cop an verify your age.

Does this sound like a scam? It does to me, just wondering if any part of this 'you have to do a vidchat first' has any basis in reality, or is in fact a scam as I suspect. Thanks.

I see many providers ad'ing there that are on here and other reputable sites, so who knows.  Apply the review rule, if she doesn't have reviews somewhere (and this isn't the only review site, I can't mention site names due to TER rules), move on.

get verified, etc.  Those who have often have recurring charges to their credit cards & id theft.  Legit providers don't do this.

This was my intuition, just wanted to make sure real providers didn't do this. Incidentally, the ones who wanted me to pay to chat used 'legit' chat sites (which I've never used) and wanted me to buy credits just so I could chat, but stated that I need not spend the money on them.

Which brings me to the question, are they trying to lure guys into giving them money with the false provider act? Or are the chat sites putting them up to it to try to get guys to buy credits, and the giving the girls a percentage or something?
