Hello friends...

After several months of curiosity, careful thought, and a few encounters as an "UTR" companion... a close girl friend of mine decided to start advertising.  I, myself, have been advertising for over a year.... I had almost forgotten how difficult the "new provider" period was as I eagerly awaited my first review.

I understand that many hobbyists rely on reviews as a determinant for whether they'll see a certain provider or not.... but when a gal doesn't have a single review yet... wow it can be frustrating!  Even more frustrating is the fact that scammers seem to target newbies who are independent providers--their shoddy references and strange requests are immensely annoying!  I feel so bad for her that she's had to deal with such idiots!

She is a great girl and doesn't deserve this drama & stress.  She is a beautiful, Latina/Caucasian mix, with natural busty breasts.  She is a real college student, and very upscale & well spoken.  She deserves to have great clients!!  It just seems that none are writing her because of her newbie-with-no-reviews status.

I must admit I feel a bit of guilt for her situation.  Having told her about my great experiences as a provider, my thorough screening process which makes me feel quite safe, and the upscale clients I meet with, she made the decision (with my encouragement) to spend money on proper photography, additional lingerie & wardrobe, and of course her ad on Eros.

So my question to you fine NYC-area hobbyists is...... have you ever seen a completely new girl with no reviews?  What sort of things/qualities in an ad would inspire you to TOFTT?  I want to be able to give her some sort of valuable advice so that she can truly begin to experience the fun & excitement of being an independent companion.

Thank You!

xoxo
Lela

Hi Lela -

I think it might be hard to find clients from TER without reviews. The first response to an ad on here (and to any ad for me), is to check and see if there are reviews. Since there are so many with reviews, it is easy to make that a determining factor.

The value of the ad probably translates directly into the price per hour. With no reviews, i would expect a lower price to inspire me to TOFTT. Not to sound cheap, but the value lost with no reviews will have to be balanced out somewhere. Having a set of reviews (at least one from an experienced reviewer) lowers my anxiety a great deal. I have TOFTT in the past and i would say i am more willing to visit with an unreviewed provider if she has great phone manner, is located somewhere convenient to me and has great, "realistic" photos. If the photos are too professional looking, that info + having no reviews raises red flags for me.

Anyway, i hope something in there is helpful. Best of luck to both of you!

My two cents,
Phil

1. Being my type
2. Being real - vs. LE or a B&S, etc. A reputable provider referring her would go a ways toward clearing that hurdle.
3. Being in my price range for TOFTT- Too often, I see TOFTT on Eros at $500/H. While well within the average for an indy these days in NYC, the risk-reward is unfavorable for me, even if it is a real girl, that the performance will suck on a TOFTT. There's just too many great providers at this price point.

This is not a comment on a provider's right to set rates the way she sees fit. This is about the market and risk-reward.
(See my GD post for excruciating detail on exactly what I want down to rates, moods, etc. )

I need something!  In the absence of a real review I need a recommendation either from a hobbyist who I trust or from another provider.  Finally, I have seen someone based on having seen something in her posts that attracted me and then having a series of email exchanges that were personal enough to convince me to try.

I am more likely to see an unreviewed girl if she participates in the forums so I get an idea for her personality.

Pictures that show her face are important to me.  I appreciate that many girls don't want to post such in an ad.  But without reviews to go on, that extra bit of information does matter.  If she doesn't put face shots in the ad, perhaps a mention that face shots are available privately to guys who pass screening.

Price is important.  I won't pay a premium for the increased risk that comes with someone with no reviews.  So, if she is planning on being on the higher end of the price scale, I recommend having starter pricing.  Maybe mention that in the ad.  Such and such price is only good until x date, or until x number of reviews.  It's up to her if she wants to offer that discounted price ongoing to the guys who see her at this point.  Often, "see me before my rate goes up and get grandfathered in at this rate" is incentive to get me to see someone who wasn't even on my radar before.

And, of course, she could always ask the guys who saw her as UTR to review her.

It really is tough out there for newbie providers. I would suggest offering doubles together - take a few pictures together to advertise them. It's a great way of introducing friends to clients who then may want to see her alone.

Even if no one takes you up on your offer for doubles, simply having a well-established provider place a page on her website listing her doubles offering with an unreviewed provider can lend a lot of credibility.  I did this for a friend of mine when she was new (although we were definitely *actually* offering doubles), and it helped her get several individual appointments since I was reputable and was vouching for her via listing her as an active doubles partner on my website.  Now we are well-reviewed together!

You can also offer a discounted doubles session to one of your regulars who you know is a reviewer as a way to get her a first review.  Even if it is a doubles review, it will still help her out.  I don't trade discounts in exchange for reviews because I think that is weird/shady, but some guys just love to review (especially a brand new lady), and you don't have to offer the special session as a "trade" for a review.  Just offer the session and once it is finished mention she is brand new and needs a review- if you choose the right client (someone who likes to review), he won't even think twice about agreeing to write her first review!

She is very lucky to have someone guiding her, helping her out, and vouching for her.  It took me almost two years to get my first review!  I didn't even know about reviews for the first year I started meeting clients.

and she only had one or two reviews... I vetted the risk by talking to her on the phone a bit, chatting with her via PM and email. After several of our communications, I thought she had her head on straight, so I took the plunge. Glad I did!

One of the reasons I am here is to mitigate risk, including the risk of a lousy experience.  So while there are some who actually prefer the idea of identifying someone new most I think would need an incentive in terms of either price or time to take the leap of faith in most cases.  I would not in general, unless like in her case she came with a referral from a reputable provider like yourself or hobbiest.

What captivated me were her photos. We emailed. She provided selfies in addition to the professional shots. That was a big plus. Once I was convinced the photos were genuine I asked about her services since she had no reviews. I was very specific. I like this, that and the other thing. She responded in the affirmative. That was the single most important thing. Since she had no reviews I had no way of knowing whether her services matched my needs. I asked. She answered. I booked an appt. She was incredible and I saw her a number of times before she relocated to another city. Never wrote a review as she was suspicious of TER and I respected that.

1. recommendation from a provider or hobbyist that I trust.  Actually, one my all-time favorites came from a provider putting up an ad indicating she had a "brand new friend" in the business.  She sent me a pic and put her reputation on the line for this girl.  That is definitely worth something.  Within a year the protege was well beyond the mentor.

2. Has her shit together.  A website that looks legit and pics and contact info that don't show up for other providers across the country.  Emails get a prompt response back.  If I am buying what you are selling, especially if you are new to the business, it is so important to be professional with good communication.

3. She provides FBSM as well as FS.  The TOFTT risk goes way down, as you are talking about $200 vs. $500.  She may want to cherry-pick the first couple reviewers though, as they could be make or break for her.  I know this will be unpopular here, but if there is a guy that provides average scores of 7s, she may want to pass...  Also just make sure that initial reviewer knows she does FS with all the bells and whistles, so that she can qualify for 10s.

To be honest, as part of the hunt, I personally find it exciting to try to discover the next big thing.  The girl that you know is going to double in price in a year because she is that good! :)

Hi Tara, Lela (what a great friend you are),

We were ALL there at one point.

The two things that got me "validated" with review writing guys was to attend Meet and Greets, and start posting on TER. It'll get the guys comfortable with the idea that you are a real girl and serious about doing this and providing good service.

As a side note, your email says Tara Torres, there is a provider by that name on in San Francisco. So I would suggest changing that so that you don't confuse anyone.

Good luck! NYC is an AWESOME place to be when partaking in HobbyLand.

Kiss me,

Kate

Kate's advice is very insightful. Don't underestimate the power of exposure by becoming a regular poster on the boards. Men will get to know you and your personality. Some will click on your website to learn more about and a few may decide to then contact you. You might consider asking one colleague to mentor you and guide you through the initial phases of establishing yourself.  I'm sure that starting out must be challenging but as Kate stated, we ALL, were once newbies, hobbyists as well as providers. Good luck.
