not too long ago toyota, the #1 car company in the world recalled 8 million cars and was trashed by every media outlet in the country. they suffered reduced sales over the course of about 3 or 4 weeks, mostly self induced, but is now back to being #1 as if nothing happened. one idiot that you never met has no chance of ruining the great reputation you've worked so hard to build. one bad apple does not spoil the whole bunch.

If a young lady consistently has 8/9/10 reviews, and a 3/4/5 shows up, any discerning man will know it is either bogus, or the reviewer has an attitude toward the provider. Probably because he was refused an appointment for personal reasons....hygiene, declines to be screened, drunk, high, tries to negotiate the fee, etc. Oftentimes, after reading the review, it is obvious the reviewer has never seen the lady. But, similar to sports judging, I always ignore the lowest and highest rated review. My personal observations.

I had an altercation last night with a would be client,
Which never happened because I told him not to bother.
So he threatens to start writing bad reviews. Does this happen often?
For every few good men, there always seems to be a rotten apple! So frustrating!

Let him know that you have internet accesss and aren't afraid to use it, hahaha!

Your reviews have already established that you are a quality provider.  Unless the dude you had the altercation with has impeccable credibility here, you shouldn't worry about one bad review....we hobbyists will discount it if we ascertain any inconsistencies.

It would seem to me when one gives a lower score the following reviews in an attmept to follow the flow will also stay close to the same as the reviewers surrounding. hmI am assuming so he does not seem to be soooo far off from ther others. In other words if everyone is giving 9's they tend to give 9's if someone gives a 7 or a 6 the following reviewers will lower theirs as well.It is what I call mode.it happens all the time .

Otherwise there is a chance of the accusation of him being a Whiteknight or Mangina...

If he threatens you black list him with the fully explained situation. At very least it will save some other girls the trouble i would love his info so I can avoid him like the plague .

One of the other things i personally encountered recently was someone I refused to see threatening me in my personal life.I was shocked to find he found out sooo much about my personal life without ever spending time with me.I was not pleased but i did address it directly i think you should too.Send him a link to his blacklisting maybe.Good luck to you ,kendall

i would never think there would be a trend in ratings and how some hobbyists would be influenced by previous reviews as opposed to just rating their own experience. i could understand if there were newbies involved but not seasoned people in this hobby. strange. would it work in reverse? if a guy thought his experience was a 6 but most reviews before him were 8's and 9's would he increase his rating just to be part of the pack?

He might jack it to a 7 to get closer , to be taken seriously. If his is soo far from the mode it may be discounted by the viewer .If say his experience was a six and he is a "nice guy" he might jack to a 7 to get closer to his peers and in reverse yes actually .Not everyone but clearly in mho a good percentage , yes. This is not so much them being dishonest it is wanting their view to be considered at all. Yes both directions sadly Frank,Kendall

funny, people in a mostly anonymous fourm wanting to conform to the pack mentality. it just goes to show how meaningless the ratings scale is. i've seen on more than a few ocassions guys that have given a 7 and after reading the review knew she deserved at least an 8 or even a 9. so important to read the review and determine the credibilty of the reviewer.

There was a guy that creeped me out the last time I was in NYC which was December 2009.  I was going to see him but changed my mind as my gut told me it was a bad idea.

He must live on this board because 5 minutes after I posted that I was planning a trip to the city I had TER mail.  (And just as before, he starts blowing up my TER mailbox instead of writing to my regular email address as I had asked him to do in December)

He tells me I should be making it up to him this visit.  I told him he made me uncomfortable and to not call/contact me, if I change my mind (which I wouldn't), I would contact him.

Same thing that you went through.  Three angry emails later he tells me:

1) He wouldn't see me anyway.
2) He will write negative stuff on TER about me.
3) I'm old and ugly.

So why did the weirdo want to see me in the first place? LOL  ;)

There are some men out here who have mental health issues and could be potentially dangerous.  Thank goodness I stayed clear of this guy in December.  His endless TER stalker emails and phone calls scared the heack out of me!

Sorry for your troubles dear.
Hopefully the freaks go away.

Kate

As someone with 59 posted reviews and also as someone who was threatened by a neurotic provider, let me assure you that among consistent reviewers--and serious hobbyists [meaning "paying customers" and not trolls or lurkers] know the names of the consistent reviewers--there is no "herd instinct". Consistent reviewers will go through at least the first two pages of reviewers, not just the last posted review, for validation of their own experience. The phenomenon of a sharp drop off of ratings from a previously highly rated provider, alas, is due to the sad phenomenon of a gifted newcomer seeking to become established by providing good service, and then, once on top, as it were, thinks that momentum or the "brand" and not consistently reliable performance --difficult in any service business--will sustain her. Or equally, a doubling of her rates without a concomitant doubling in the quality of the performance will cause a drop-off in ratings. No "herd instinct" at all.

I will now tell you that any hint of threats on the part of a provider will cause instant blackballing within the hobbyist community, and rightly so. Ignore the drip who threatened you with a bad review--it is meaningless. Threaten a hobbyist by "outing" him in any way--you will deserve to be blackballed by every hobbyist. You have the telephone numbers and email address of the hobbyist. I have routinely given my real name, driver's license, cellphone, and business number to hobbyists when I was starting out as the only way of establishing that I wasn't LE. When a visiting neurotic provider from the Deep South blew off my scheduled appointment and then wanted to meet with me two hours later and I refused, she threatened to "out" me. I was falsely denounced on the Provider Board and two veritable angels came to my defense. Bless them. Being "denounced" on these Boards is meaningless. Having a deranged provider call me on my cellphone during working hours where I could have been surrounded by business colleagues or my family --for that permanent banishment is the only response.

Don't threaten--ignore him. If you threaten him on these Boards, you are instantly telling everyone that under no circumstances can they trust you to keep confidential anything--their real identity, their cellphone numbers or email address. You become completely untrustworthy. And you will be the streetwalker.

You had such a terrible experience.

Blacklisting is not at all what you are describing though. As I am sure you already know being a seasoned hobbiest.Blacklisting is specifically for the protection of a provider who has encountered someone who is not safe.
It is an important tool to keeping the girls safe and not at all the same as what you experienced.

In fact it is a provider tool not anything to do with families ,work or any of the other mentioned issues you should never have had to encounter. I feel for you as a person who has been outright outed on more than one occassion how uncomfortable that cam be.

In my case this person threated my children I do feel that is important information for others to know before exposing themselves to a potential nutjob.,Good luck to you ,kendall

Yes, and im that idiot,Kalana54 to be more precise that "creeped " you out like you said, but your statement is completely false and i have all the mails you sent me if enybody is interested in corraborating, the truth is ,i made an appointmet to meet Carnal Courtesan with 2 days in advance and when the time arrived, she dissapeardnot answering phonecall or even text messages,2 or 3 days later she contacted me with an excuse of a loved one in need of help and that was the reason she could not see me,fine,i understand, but dont agree, because theere is always a minute to send a text or a call to reschedule,so when i saw yesterday that she is coming to town, i sent her a pm telling her that i was here and that she should make it up to me after she stood me up,trying to be funny, but maybe too direct, well, she answered me back telling me that i was rude and that she was going to think and decide if she wanted to see me....sooo ,my answer was clear, please do me a favor, whatever your decision is,DO NOT CALL ME,i just cant handle arrogance and stupidity....oh man,she answered back telling me that i was a looser, that she knew i was a creep and that is why she never got back to me,that she didnt need my money, that she was already completely booked and bla...bla...bla.
She says i told her she was old and ugly...another lie, what i really told her is that at her age she should stsrt acting accordingly and not like a 15 years old spoiled brat, her age should be my age, around 50 something...and i dont feel old,i dont know about her...Ugly,never seen her face and never mention it.
Only once had a similar problem with a very well revied provider here ( Lana O) she stood me up and to my surprise i had a lot of hobbyst backing me up with  similar storys ans telling their terrible experience with her,I was really surprised....I dont know anything about this Carnal Courtesan person, the only thing i know is that she acts, writes like she was a member of the British Royal Family,to say the least and she is to full of herself....dear como down to reality....

I agree with you. A reviewer loses all credibility over time if he exhibits inconsistency. I usually look for, and follow, reviewers whose opinions I tend to agree with, and those tend to be the more honest reviewers. Also, I don't give a damn what others think about my reviews -- I'm not here for peer recognition. I'm here so I can be a more informed consumer and not get ripped off.

I'm not sure I agree with the conformity argument that's been put forth. If a provider who used to get "9"s starts getting "7"s, isn't it also possible that her level of service has slipped? Did she simply have a bad week, and the reviews that week reflect it? There are any number of explanations.

I suppose I should have made it clearer that the blacklist I was referring to was the informal blacklist among hobbyists. To say that "Blacklisting is specifically for the protection of a provider" is to be oblivious to the other half of the equation. In addition to talking about looks and skill, we hobbyists also discuss life-threatening issues as well. Just as a seasoned hobbyist will know through other seasoned hobbyists which providers allow "bareback", either to run to or run away from the provider, so we also discuss which ones are "nutjobs". TER provides the first tier of such linkages, but rest assured, we discuss amongst ourselves seemingly trivial things like--did she forget about my appointment? Does that mean she'll forget about douching between clients? In case there is any doubt, providers should be well aware that there is only one thing that will cause a hobbyist to run away--fear that the provider will call the wife, the boss, LE(!!) etc. I have always felt that the provider was fully entitled to knowing my real identity when I was starting out. Village Girl was my first and she took down my real identity and contact information submitted to her over the Internet, so that when I showed up, she very conspicuously shredded the information and put it into a glass jar filled with shredded confidential information. So to with Julie's--I gave my driver's license and US Army ID to the Russian providing security and we met on the corner on the street, half a block away.

My point is to make it clear to providers--there is truly only one thing which will cause permanent blacklisting and a calamitous fall in seeing hobbyists: any hint or innuendo that the provider will use the confidential information given as "retaliation" to contact the wife, the boss, etc. By all means, insist on the ID information and verification. Every "newbie" has been told by seasoned hobbyists that they will have to provide ID to get themselves established. Let me repeat myself: Every seasoned hobbyist has told every newbie--on these Boards and elsewhere--that the newbie will have to provide positive ID before seeing the first dozen or so providers. But to do that, the provider must never threaten to "out" the hobbyist. Specifically, an amazingly talented, intelligent, and beautiful NY provider was frustrated by snarky comments on this Board and threated to reveal the real names of the hobbyists writing truly inane comments about her. Suddenly the entire Board erupted and no one--no one--defended her. She had to leave the City, heal herself, and now is back to being an amazing provider.

[By the way, when I give the names of four or five of the 59 I've reviewed and the provider doesn't know any of them and still insists on my ID--fugeddabowdit. That means that she's as much a newbie as I once was.]

I did NOT refer to outing anyone in my post, lol!!  I have NO idea where that topic even came up in this thread.

I merely meant that if you have a false review, it's easy to show that you never met the client especially if you have a record of the client threatening you with a bad/false review!

Play fair kids!!

The email trail and in doing so would blow his fake, false review out of the water and probably have him thrown off the board. All of his own doing.

A FAKE bad review simply because she has a good track record that she put allot of effort into with 'good service' all the way around is simply B.S. Remember, we are discussing a FAKE review not just a bad review.
It's unexceptable.

While its true that some reviewers might align their reviews with the one directly preceding theirs, don't forget regression to the mean. That is if a provider is consistently giving 8/9/10 service the reviews will go back up a represent that.
