thank god for that last sentence I thought maybe I heard the theme from brokeback mountain playing
client no 9 ...the rise and fall of elliot spitzer....anyone else see it?
But I have been watching his CNN show. Despite the fact that I dislike him for his hypocrisy, I must admit he comes across as bright, verbal and really in command of his facts. Also, there was an interview of him in the NY Times Sunday Magazine a few days ago in which he handled himself well and was especially forthright about his "client #9" experience. It made me dislike him less.
politicians have to lie...its what people require of them. If the average person was faced with an honest politician they would burn him at the stake. I personally like seeing flaws in people and look forward to a time when people are not judged by their private marital matters. I don't care if tiger woods had sex with half of the free world...I care that his skills make him a truly great golfer. I don't care if Clinton or Kennedy cheated and had sex with everyone in the whitehouse... and I honestly dont care that sheen is or was living with porn stars.
That's between them and their wives and family.
I was interested in this movie more because of the escort end of things and the perspective.
Wouldn't it be great to live in a time when a politician can say "yes I fucked some stranger Friday night and my wife is mad but it was great...now that we covered that, lets get back to how to fix the economy..."
CSJ, I agree with you. The reason I don't like Spitzer is his hypocrisy, espeicially about the hobby. He was hobbying at the same time as he was pushing laws to put both of us in jail. That's what I don't like. I do expect politicians to lie, but that level of lying is more than this monger can take! LOL!
true. But how many hypocritical politicians are out there right now? I will say the majority if I wanted to be generous and if I were to give my honest opinion I would say "most". It seems they keep getting voted into office somehow ![]()
If anyone other than Gibney made this piece, it would just be another vanilla bio on the Biography channel. I hope someone of his caliber makes a doc on me when I screw up. ![]()
I was disappointed in ashley dupree...she came off like a victim....that girl is far from sad case of a confused kid.
I thought it was excellent. Discloser: I am a fan of his and thought he would have been a great president. Poitics aside, if you watch him on CNN, you can see how smart he is. Narcissism can really bring down a person.
yes it can...so can a country who tends to throw stones from glass houses ![]()
I thought it was great. He went after Wall Street abuses that brought the economy down well before it did. The documentary made it clear that Langone and two other Wall Street biggies hired private investigators to bring him down in retaliation. It is too bad he had an achilles heel and that he couldn't have gone on bringing them down.
Where did you see it at?
rented it on netflix..its also available on roku
In this hobby that is so often referred to as a victimless crime I believe who we frolic with is our business. But when it ceases to be a victimless crime the rules change. When Elliot Spitzer, Tiger Woods and others like them decided to seek comfort outside the boundries of their marriages they had every right to do so, it's their business. But the damage, lifelong damage, they inflicted on their wives and children is inexcusable. They proceeded to carry on these affairs in a sloppy and irresponsible manner that almost begged to get caught. For this they should not be forgiven. Their wives may or may not be angels, but their kids???? Shame on these educated, intelligent and talented fools. There are victims here and victims that will be forced to live with a shame that they had no hand in creating.
same could be said about anyone who cheats. When you are an actor, an athlete or a politician you are not any less a man. And as far as being sloppy...I know a funeral director in brooklyn who got sloppy after a while too. He was a first class dad. He got busted after getting away with things for a while and yes, his kids suffered.
I know I for one can't throw any stones when it comes to making mistakes. Not one of us are beyond reproach. We are all just lucky until we aren't anymore.
Not any less a man, I agree, but when you enter the public arena and that bright light shines upon you and you're placed under the public microscope you are not there alone. A Brooklyn funeral director getting caught and a prominent politician getting caught is not the same thing. Whether we like it or not, it's a fact of life in 2011. I've yet to see a movie made of a plumber's infedility. When these people enter the public spotlight there are responsibilities that accompany them. I just feel sorry for the kids who must have been so proud of their dad the goverernor and now will always be looked at as the kids whose dad brought public humiliation upon the whole family. Something that will never happen to a funeral director in Brooklyn.
true. It is a responsibility, but I think the bottom line is we are all human first. The spotlight is def a place where things become inflated by spectacle, but time has taught us that most of us are flawed. Spitzer's flaws were caught and micro examined by the whole world. Was tiger woods stupid? Yes...but in retrospect its easy for us to look and say that. When you are in it, many become very sloppy. Whether its speeding or infidelity, being famous does not make us any less capable of making asinine mistakes.
You could argue that famous people are held to a higher principle....but one could argue that about parenthood in general too. The funeral director wasnt a public figure but he was a father....and the magnitude isnt any different to a 3 year old.
My point is that as a society we should stop judging for things that perhaps, most of us are guilty of.
Ahhhh, here Ms.CSJ I gladly agree with you. We should stop judging and being so critical of human frailities. This is a mean and vindictive trait that we puritanical Americans have seemed to get down to a science. Takes our eyes and our minds off what's really important.
But until that day comes we are left with two alternatives, face the music or run for cover.
Have a wonderful evening.
a survivor...live to fight another day. ![]()
insightful, intellectual, beautiful, and sexy all rolled into one hot package. now i am more smitten than ever.. LMAO.. and i don't mean you, frank!!
thank god for that last sentence I thought maybe I heard the theme from brokeback mountain playing ![]()
I could not have said it bettter myself!
I too have been smitten by this incredible, gorgeous, intelligent, outspoken, body blow of sexual thunder provider that Cara Saint James really and outstandingly is!
If it had been her rather than Ms. Dupree that was Client # 9's Provider, he'd still be in office but as a smiling and contented governor, prostitution laws would have been repealed, and our State would be a role model for the nation of hypocrites we are. I do imagine that he’d probably being walking a bit bowl-legged as a result of CSJ physical abilities!!!! (I do for several days after seeing CSJ!)
