Though I am loving Manhattan, I would love to see all that New York state has to offer...
I'm looking to visit the safest & best areas - but to be honest, I have not the slightest clue.

Any suggestions for best restaurants, entertainment venues, & places to stay will be greatly appreciated.

Start in Long Island and go onto to Westchestee, Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. Take a day after Buffalo and visit Niagara Falls (about 15-30 mins away depending where you are staying).

That I would ad would be to try to come in the summer as its especially gorgous here and you could encounter some serious weather in the winter months.

has some of the best NY beaches, IMHO...as long as you're not homophobic, as it's a very gay friendly area. There's also nude areas of the beach, but they're sectioned off if that's not your thing. Very cute beach front community in general.

SyracuseMale - Thank you for your input. I keep hearing wonderful things about Long Island & will definitely make a few stops there... May I ask, what areas are best? As for Niagara Falls - I may need more than a day there. From all of the pictures I've seen the Falls look enchanting & I can't imagine 1 day would be enough. The continuous thundering of the water crashing below sounds like a slice of heaven in comparison to the blaring taxis and ambulances of the city... (Not to say I don't like that or anything.)

SindeeNYC - I am definitely planning on coming in the summer, actually I'm looking at mid August to be honest. I'm still not used to the craziness of the winter weather on the east coast so traveling anywhere near water during that time sounds like a giant no-no to me... Unless of course I go back to Cali. There's never a bad time to visit there. (Yes, I'm completely biased. lol)


Jamielovejamie - Yes... I totally have to go there! I'm anything but homophobic & I love nakedness, so it sounds like Fire Island & topless tini's is next on my travel agenda... Thank you chica.

Have played there many times, and know of several excellent hotels that will suit your needs.  I'll PM you with that info upon request.

As for visiting upstate, I would say the Saratoga/Lake George/Adirondacks areas are my favorite region to visit.  This area has lots of people passing through during the summer, and I wish I knew of ladies in this area in years past.  If you are planning a trip to Bufffalo, do visit Niagara Falls, which is about an hour away by car.  Bring your passport...it will be needed to cross over into Canada, and you will want to do this if you visit the Falls.  A side excursion to Toronto is also something to be considered.

I'll make sure to have my Passport in tow as well... I haven't been to Canada just yet & I've been tempted to go for some time. Might as well take the initiative & kill two birds with one stone. Buffalo, Niagara, then Toronto... Sounds like I'm going to need more time off from school.

The problem with Westchester is NYC....Westchester is so lovely. No crime. Safe. Upscale. Really, the best. Manhasset in LI is nice too. But nobody comes here. I am mad. I don't want to go to the city and park, etc. Yuk. But I think from the lady's perspective, what could be more exciting than NYC for a visit, so it makes sense that they would go there. Just come to Westchester AFTER the city for God's sake. Please.

Hotel rates there are crazy this time of year.  Better to go in June.
