Hi!  So, when I search New York reviews I can select "New York (state)" and "New York - Manhattan".  I've never been to New York so I don't know the "lay of the land" so to speak.

So, would the "best" concentration of companions be reviewed in the "New York - Manhattan" "region",  I guess, or would the "New York (state)" location be a better choice?

Where to center your search depends on where you are staying. If you are headed to Manhattan, search NY - Manhattan. Buffalo, NY is 380 miles (8 hr drive) from Manhattan. DON'T search "Manhattan" if you're going to Buffalo. Montauk is 130 miles west / 3 hours from Manhattan.

Using ADVANCED searching of Reviews, there are radio buttons to narrow or expand your search "within N miles (X km)" from the selected city or area. If you are planning to be in White Plains (~30 miles north of Manhattan), search "Manhattan" "within 30 mi" OR "within 50 mi".  (If it's during the day, do NOT drive between WP and Manhattan! It's a 34 minute comfortable train ride from Grand Central Station to WP.)  On the other hand, "locals" could also tell you that Stamford, CT is very convenient (15 mi, 20 minutes) to White Plains, too, so you should also search "Stamford, CT" "within 30 miles".

Why don't you re-submit your Q as something like: "I'm planning to be [here - give the location or city]. How should I search for Reviews [to get the most relevant hits and not hostesses from 200 miles away]?"

Thanks for the great info!  I'm currently not planning on traveling to New York anytime soon but I was curious about how to best search for reviews, since I noticed "New York - Manhattan" was a different selection than "New York (state)".  I'm in the S.F. Bay Area and we have "San Francisco" and "San Francisco County" as the two San Francisco options.  Since San Francisco City is the only city in San Francisco County, that makes searching easier.  lol
