Do any of the old-timers (I include myself in the category) here recall exactly what year the Harmony opened on 48th Street?  Was it '78 or earlier?

I was there in the early 80's but I am pretty sure it was open for a while by then. Whatever happened to it? Do you know? Had some great times there.

The 48th Street location closed in '87.  Afterward, for awhile, it was in a loft on East 17th.  Then there were two:  W. 22nd Street and the flagship on Church Street.  When Mayor Guiliani launched his war on strip clubs, the first one he went after was the Harmony.  It closed permanently in the late 90s.

I never knew the place at 48th, just 22nd and SoHo. It was GREAT!

Bring back the Harmony!

You can get a lap dance in a lot of places in the city, for instance Flashdancers.  But none of them offer the same level of unbridled naughtiness that you could find at the Harmony.

It was earlier than 1978.
I was a grad student at NYU & used to walk by the Harmony while walking to Colony
for sheet music, etc.
I stopped in & had dances with Sue Nero, Susaye London, Lisa Be, Carol, Sandy, Roxanne,
Jocelyn, Margo, Michelle, etc Hung out a little across the stree at Bernards.
Then went to the other downtown places till they closed & met many other terrific ladies
(& we all remember how not terrific the bathrooms were!)

It was the Melody before becoming the Harmony. I lived across the street from 78-83
