I've been seeing some great providers in White Plains, and the Meadowlands, but it looks like I'm missing out on some great opportunities in the city!

I'm not to familiar with NYC, but I would like some recommendations about either independant or agency providers within walking distance or a short cab ride from Grand Central Station.  Are their hotels, etc, generally near this Midtown point (like Broadway, Times Sq)?  I

Or, do they tend to be or stay in lower Manhattan?

I don't think it would be appropriate (or wise) to list specific locations, but general areas or cross streets within a few blocks would be helpful.
