I had something happen to me twice this week, the first time I was going to let it go but when it happened twice I knew I had to say something.
I have always been worried that despite people saying they get rid of your information after they meet you they really don't and in fact may come back to haunt you. Early this week I received a text msg saying "text me when you have a minute" I had no idea who it was just the number, who is this I asked and she responded with her name , a lady I had seen two moths ago. What do you want, she said to let me know that she was available on certain dates. I don't even live in the same city as her....in addition WTF are you texting me without my permission and WTF do you still have my phone number. So I told her it was inappropriate and lose my number asap and I will never see her again...

Then this morning  I get a text from someone else to let me know of some  event she is holding, I ask who is this and she says, guess who....Guess who, fuck you , this is not a game, I told her the same thing....my question is , am I missing something here, in both cases I was led to believe that my numbers would not be saved ( that is why I have an email address or use the board) secondly I never ever told either these ladies to contact me at will through my phone , why would I have if I thought they were ditching my numbers....

I would love to here form other hobbyists...but for me this is over the line and I know now to NEVER give out my phone number, nothing other than email, white list and references....."promise to delete my information, my ass"

I think that discretion is a two way street. Some guys/providers may text back and forth routinely. I think it's a YMMV situation. If you're worried about your privacy, own the problem and get a hobby phone, or set up a google voice number.

Just my opinion. I use google voice and it's great. You can turn it on or off at anytime and forward it to your normal cell (or not).  And it's free.

use google voice - masks your phone and text messages go to email.  problem solved.

I have had this happen likely a dozen times - I agree 100% with you but these are working women.

No one is going to see you without your telephone number.  You could use email address to set up the appt, but I still need to hear your voice on the phone so I could screen and decide if I want to see you or not.  yes the ladies should have deleted your number after that...

It works great! It was invite only at one point, but now it's open to everyone. If you are working with someone else with GV # it can get a bit tricky, but once playing with settings things will be okay.

Emails are usually the way to go, but at a point phone contact will be needed. When it comes to personal information, such as work email or anything that should be deleted immediately by all means, if even needed. However, when ladies are used for references, its hard to really give accurate information without some database. The problem is not the handling of information but with ladies who try to drum up business with unsolicited text messages because they know you will get text rather than email and that sucks.

Overall, I think GV should be the way to go, almost seems as if Google had the hobby in mind when they created it to take away from hobby phone market.

I only book with clients who are not into playing games.
I understand that is important to keep you safe and act with discretion, but my safety is in the same level of importance.
I refuse the appointment once I find out is a google voice number. The anonymity of it scares me and do not make me feel safe.
If I trust you enough to visit me at my home, to the place where I live, you need to provide with real information about yourself.
I prefer not to see someone who plays 007 games with me.
I completely agree with your concern about cold calls/texts....they are a NO NO in our business.
But, competition is stiff these days and some ladies think is OK to contact a client out of the blue.
Trust and discretion - on both sides - is my motto.

Yea, this happened to me as well.  I actually got an email from some pimp and when I questioned him he said well don't give out your information anymore.  I know have a customary "fuck phone" and use that for calling/texting and never give out information..Just use references from a few providers that I trust.

That is poor business and I would never do that unless I have text/mailing list.. or a gent has asked me to keep him in the loop. Or a regular I know has a hobby phone/GV number.. MMV

The texts are unprofessional and annoying. It rarely happens to me, but there was a time a few years ago when I received a text from a provider saying she was running a special, named the amount, and gave her hotel info in the text.
I gave her a tongue lashing, one that didn't make her wet.  

I started getting text messages saying, " a friend of [hers] gave [her] my number...said I was a great client and [she'd] would like to meet me." Started a few months ago and has continued every so often ever since. As near as I can tell this a tactic employed by some Russian agency that advertises all of its girls as being independent. I have repeatedly told them to lose my number and not to contact me unsolicited. But I also recognize that the cat is out of the bag. They have my number and that's that. I password protect my phone and will get a hobby phone, but most of all I've stopped seeing European girls especially anyone from Russia. Be wary of any ad on eros for european blondes. They're often fake pictures and this is what they do with your info. I suspect other girls/agencies use the same tactic, but my experience is with the Russians. If anyone from those agencies is reading this, its a sure way to lose business not generate more.

Well. maybe not so sad if you intend to see the lady again, and want her to remember you.  

There are some ladies that keep your info, and will send you an e-mail periodically if you see them more than once.  As for the scenario you described, I would have ignored it if I had no intentions of seeing her again.

Because they can always be found by his SO and I dont need some shrill voice over the phone asking me questions at 3am. My personal policy is don't text me because I wont answer. If i cant hear your voice, its a no-go! I used to use google voice but the men would just hang up, so that's over.
The are people who are good at their jobs and others who arent- this industry is no different. I have set up a twitter account so the gents will be able to keep track of my locations, but I will also give them the option of an email and text list. I will also have a calendar on my site for the same purpose. What doesn't work for the OP may work fine for someone else. A GOOD provider understands that, allows the man to contact her when HE wants and makes it easy for him to do so.

Jackblack, You also may want to make it clear to women you see in the future that you want to hear from them until you call them. Many providers wont book you with out a phone number.
