Just read a review on a provider I found on the board which prompted this question I would have defiantly went to see this provider if not for this reason  
I've run into this a few times with providers they give a donation amount on their site or over the phone then when you get there this is xtra that is xtra  since many providers wont talk about rates over the phone and many won't text which I understand but it kills the mood for me to go back to the wallet in the middle of things  
I'm not disputing the  rate or anything  but we should be able to settle all that before we meet. So you can be in the moment and enjoy yourself let's be honest this is an expensive hobby  this tends to ruin  the experience for me

Sure, back in the days of sex magazines and the yellow pages (gasp), there was plenty of up-selling.  Many times the rate was to get them in the door and if you wanted them to actually perform a service it cost hundreds extra.  

But TER makes it simple and takes all the guess work out of what to expect.  If you are worried about paying more money for additional basic services once you are inside the room, then only see well reviewed ladies. You'll know exactly what to expect per their hourly donation.  The reviews will tell you the services you are most likely to receive. She is not going to stop in the middle of the session and demand more money.    

If you are running into ladies who are trying to extract (some may say extort) extra money from you for basic run of the mill GFE services, you are seeing the wrong women.

Only time I have ever added an xtra it's a travel fee but I state the fact before we meet so there is no issue. Secure emailing systems exist so that those kinds of conversations can exist.  
I'm sure though that these women have their reasons. Not everyone has access or knows about secure ways of talking about more sensitive topics.

If you've ever worked in sales, upsells are pretty standard procedure. Whether or not it's ethical is another matter. A sort of upsell is even ingrained in our health care system where we are often charged separately for things that could be clumped into a single charge, just to generate additional revenue. So in other words, an upsell is very common.

However, as an escort, I am technically not selling anything. Rather, I am getting paid for my time. So I'd say, in the escorting world, especially here on TER, I would think an upsell is against the unwritten code of conduct.

First and foremost, the main priority for both parties (besides safety, being respectful, those types of things) should be to create a comfortable environment. Especially for a gfe, it shouldn't feel so "transaction-y" and awkward. So I definitely agree- bad way to conduct business. Having said that, as someone who provides GFE, there's several things I won't do. Even if it's part of the gfe, if there's health concerns or something like that, it's normal to decline and that should be respected by the client. But again, saying "sorry I don't really like that" and "that costs extra" are two COMPLETELY different things.
Last point I want to make is to be aware of the providers you're choosing - cost wise. Just like with any other thing, you get what you pay for. Now I'm not sure if this applies to you since I don't know what price range you're looking at.. But usually when the business's objective is just to get you through the door and then upsell, upsell, upsell, and nickel and dime you, they're more concerned with trying to get as much money as possible in that one transaction instead of providing quality service (this also means charging more because you know you're providing quality) and hoping that leads to loyalty and keeps the customers coming back. That's where quality vs quantity comes into play.

One thing I forgot to mention is, in environments where prostitution is legal, there may be a base rate and then everything else is an up-charge. I'm mostly referring to what I've heard and read about working in Australia. In the parlors there, there is usually a base rate of say, $200-400 for the hour depending on the caliber of the place, of which the lady gets half. All the extras are considered tips and the lady gets to keep it in the entirety.  With the upsells, the hourly rates can still be 300-500 an hour in a legal, safe environment with a good supply of clients.  

With escorting, one is technically charging for one's time. I think this is true about the 'escort' term anywhere regardless of the legal climate pertaining to sex work. What may occur during that time may be listed in the ads or reviews but is not technically, contracted for, whereas the time is. What happens within that time is at the discretion of consenting adults. Of course, in the US, the two consenting parties can still be prosecuted for engaging in what grown-ups do because historically, our government  likes to misappropriate valuable monetary resources to police it's citizens' agency over their bodies, as was the case in Texas vs. Lawrence, along with a few other examples I'm undoubtedly leaving out.  

Someone who upsells is obviously not charging for time, and is therefore, not an escort in the truest sense. Also, that sort of behavior doesn't really conform to the expectations of TER. Even though the guys here (especially as of late) ask for some pretty explicit stuff, the site is structured to reveal hourly rates with reviews written to suggest activities with which an escort may be comfortable in private, not services or expectations.

This 100%.  If I can’t get a clear picture of what her services are through reviews or her site, I’ll avoid her. Now if I didn’t come there expecting say, Greek, but she offers at additional price, I’m okay with that because it’s up to me to take it or not.

I HATE an upsell, but I do lay out all of a mans options. I DO discuss rates. But I do have something to say.  

My GFE rate that includess BBJNtC LFK DATY/DATO and just all around a more relaxed session is the rate displaued on my TER and P411 profiles, which also INCLUDE Greek at no upsell. However, I am likely to OFFER the non gfe session (for 50 less) if someone believes my rates are too high or etc.  

In Long island that flips backwards. I advertise / distribute/discuss my NON gfe rate, and upsell for Bbj etc. Because I AM putting myself a great risk of syphilis, herpes, hpv, and many other outcomes. There are 9 diseases u can contract from JUST KISSING which I why I CANNOT do DFK with everyone and anyone I meet.  

I don't trust a client to be clean 125% of the time. Though we appreciate the trust you display by requesting said services- I cant suggest you trust a hooker either.

Charging by the act or a hybrid of time and act is pretty low rent.  Just charge a comfortable rate and treat it like a casual date with a gentleman, rather than a menu for a cheap, fat bastard at the drive-through window to pick from.  

Plain and simple up selling is a bad idea. After over 15 years in this industry I know that being straight up with a price and making it all inclusive just makes for a better reputation and experience. At the end of the day you are paying for a great experience and up selling is a buzz kill.  

As a female, when I get going I don't want to stop and talk about extras for this and that. I just want to have fun period. But maybe that is just me. LOL.
